How about this for a playlist? The workout mix playlist combining the more aggressive, uptempo tracks from the two Hotline Miami games. Exhilarating techno music to get your heart pumping, your legs running and your weights lifting.
I haven't been to a gym in ages but when I did, I always swore by meathead metal and hardcore. An obvious answer, perhaps, but it always did the trick for me!
Mind you, any kind of dance music will also get me off my arse. I'm not a big enough fitness nut to curate my own home workouts/playlists so I'm happy to go with the readymade lists on the workout website I use, and they're amazingly uplifting.
I work out at home - nothing major - just enough to provide the strength to prise a stubborn lid off a jam jar. I often put on one of iamamiwhoami's albums of chilly Swedish electronica. The tempo varies, but most of the songs have a momentum that lends itself well to physical activity.
