World champion boxer loses to random mma bum in bareknuckle boxing, complains about it for 13 minutes -

  • Intermittent Denial of Service attack is causing downtime. Looks like a kiddie 5 min rental. Waiting on a response from upstream.

The guy got beaten by an MMA fighter in a fists-only fight, and to top it all off he broke his hands?!

There's a reason why Mayweather only fought McGregor and Tenshin in straight-up, gloved boxing matches.
Man, a lot of people don't know just how much you can mess up your hands by punching bare knuckle. There's a reason gloves and wraps are used in boxing.
You can really fuck up your wrists to if you aren't careful.
I have seen this happen in IRL fights. Two speds throw down, one lands a hit, and the next day he has his hand in a cast.

The reason pro martial artists can punch bare knuckle is because they train their fists hard. And even then, grappling is more common in actual fights.

Mayweather is on a different level than Malignaggi or any other boxer for that matter. But you are probably right since he also has brittle hands.

Friend of mine was once punched straight in the teeth by some turkish wiener (go figure).
Result: Friend didn't even feel pain, but the turkroach sliced open the back of his hand from the knuckles to the wrist.

When you have no clue how to punch someone and have not done anything to strengthen your bones, you'll really regret punching someone.
Worse still, people who think knuckle-dusters are superweapons that make you invincible. Chances are, you'll just break your own fingers when punching someone. Bonuspoints if you don't even manage to hurt your opponent.

I disagree, usually fights start out with a punch being thrown. Most people can't take a punch they get punched once in their face and they are stunned or even fall down if they are not sober or have no stance. If it goes to grappling the fight will be broken up by bystanders before either person is hurt which removes the whole point of fighting people.

Fair enough, I'm just thinking about the ones I've seen. Usually some drunk guy throws a punch, then suddenly he's in a lock or a hold.

I was taught by my Dad that if you have to punch someone, go for the stomach. The head is where all the hard, sharp, pointy bits are; the stomach is usually much softer relatively speaking although you can still mess something up punching incorrectly.

Then again, most street/bar fights I've seen are just two spazzes throwing arm punches for 20 seconds before getting completely blown up.

The rules of boxing make being good at fist fighting not the most important thing. People learn to metagame the rules. It's all about picking and ducking fights and stupid weigh in shit and taking just the right amount of steroids.... oh wait those last two are part of MMA too...

That said I wouldn't have predicted this outcome. I'd at least think the MMA dude would need to resort to something that wasn't the one thing the boxer is supposed to be good at.

Boxing gloves should be replaced with at minimum MMA-style gloves. Most of the worst injuries in boxing are a direct result from how much more damage can be inflicted at the head when you don't have to worry about breaking your hand on it. It's the same reason injury rates in football are worse than in rugbee.

Once you know what you're doing, padding in a sport is a weapon, not a shield.
