VTM Battle Royale/Blood Hunt/Fortnite With Fangs trailer was released today. If you were around for the Bloodlines 2 debacle, you might recognize a similar theme: lots of cutscenes but no gameplay footage.
I can't wait to (not) pre-order this:
Also, this kind of cuts perpendicular to nu-Wolf/Paradox pompously insisting on the importance of the Masquerade in V5 to the point that they created the Second Inquisition and shoah'd the vampires of London to enforce their new lore.

Didn't they already try this kind of nonsense with that Legacy of Kain PVP game that didn't even make it out of beta?

The WoD IP's entire history from 1999 onward has been transferring from one shitty owner to another and each one being exponentially worse than the one before it.

It really got bad after the merger with the EVE Online guys back in the 2000's. That ultimately killed White Wolf for good and led to all the screwups by the chucklefucks at Onyx Path and Paradox.

I mean, I’ll order the song in that trailer. That shit fuckin’ slaps.

Other than that, it really only appeals to the fourteen year old me that used to roll trench coat ninjas.

Vtubers go live in about an hour and a half playing Hunter: the Vigil
Will it be based? Or cringe?
So, how did that go? I tried watching it but Kiara's voice is like nails on chalkboard to me so I dropped out just a few minutes in.
(Also, what's that accent? Is she German or something?)

Have they ever explained why exactly they don't want you playing Sabbat? It seems especially non-sensical since the other two sects are actually more stupid and evil than they were in 3rd and vampires are all ticking time bombs anyway is a collectivist theocrat with the equivelant of vampiric humanism really that extreme?

Something something racism something something White Wolf was dissolved because gay people in Chechnya something something I'd imagine. The book is written by the guy who wrote the Sabbat book for Revised. He was hired to write this book and could have made them playable and (written 1/4 more pages) if he wanted to.

Yeah Justin's a prick but Sabbat revised is right up there with Guide to technocracy in terms of good books which flesh out factions. This makes it even more baffling after 3rd ed took you blow by blow how to play Sabbat and the ins and outs of Sabbat clans, even stuff like explaing how the Tzmisce and Lasombra differed in their philosophies was explored in length. It makes even less sense with Justin at the helm because he knocked it out the ball park last time.

With the Sabbat book and the Pride stuff, I'm going to just play 20th in the future. My current game is V5 but if we play a second game, I'm going to push for 20th. I'm done with Paradox's shit.

V20 isn't bad. Just keep in mind that it was a bit rushed and there is some erata in it. Like forgetting ghouls soak lethal.

And my biggest advice - make sure every single person in that party knows how combat works. Down to the letter. So you're not spending an hour doing it and asking questions like 'what damage does a knife do again? What's the difficulty of kick? Etc etc' cuz that sinks the game.

Combat is by far the weakest part of 20th edition and just the ST system in general. They had a chance to salvage it for WtA 20th but didn't. They did add in combat measures that give some variety but it's still a slog in a combat focused game which is stupid.

If you're the type to watch Vtube girls in the first place, it was 'kwality khantent'. If you like your elf-games to be srs /biz/ then you'll end up wanting to draft a fatwa on anime.

Basically, noobs being silly with a game while getting familiar with the rules.

Oh, that's fine, then. Noobs being silly can be fun to watch, and I'm long past being srs bsns unless that's what everybody agreed to do. Was it an actual game, though? Or were they doing the scripted CR thing?

Anyway, I'll give the others' tutorial sessions a watch when they happen. Their voices don't grate me like Kiara's.

I made a bold proclamation many Moons ago that the only VtM game worth any look at was going to be Swansong (made by the same people who made The Council which was excellent) It's a story driven game with Detective elements that are shared between three different characters with different approaches to the mystery.

And I'm glad to be semi vindicated. The trailer for the Malk dropped and personally as a Malk lover it makes me pretty happy. Malks got the shaft in v5 by combo-ing Dementation with Dominate but oh well. This looks good. The style is nice - seeing a bit if gameplay was also good. I'm hoping we get the Toreador and Ventrue trailer soon.

There's a free preview of the v5 Sabbat book on worldofdarkness.com, if anyone here has an account and enough morbid curiosity.

I didn't find it particularly interesting. There's not a lot to judge, just one (incomplete?) path write-up, a generic enemy statblock, and a new Amalgam discipline that's cool, but with v5's limits on how many powers you can get I'm not sure it'd be worth taking. The reframing antitribu as "don't focus on your clan, that takes you further from Caine" could be cool, but the rest didn't grab me. Don't like how they focus on the Sabbat being ~mYsTeRiOuS~ instead of giving a few possible explanations the Beckoning or Gehenna War, and the way they described the Sabbat as still holding a few cities but having noticeably few Kindred is lame.

If they're that committed to changing the global Kindred power dynamics, they could've done a lot better reframing the Sabbat as fewer in number but more powerful on average. They've mentioned Sabbat returning from the Middle East "bloated like ticks" from diablerie, so I'd have gone with Packs as domestic terrorist cells attempting to take back their holdings from the Cammies. A more covert, espionage-oriented sect waging asymmetric war against the Ivory Tower, whose bombings and shootings get covered up as domestic terrorist plots, mass shootings, etc. They could still go that route in the full book, but I doubt it.

Lukewarm on it at best, but I'm a gameless newfag so my opinion doesn't count for much. I'm interested to hear veteran's tear it apart voice their opinions.
