With the way things are going in the US I'm considering just moving elsewhere. But if I stay here I want to homeschool my children. Yes, so they don't end up indoctrinated into CRT and liberalism. The NYT's 1619 project about how slavery is motivated by white people's innate hatred of black people is planned to be pushed in schools. Scholastic is recommending and selling books about children being trans and non-binary. California wants to teach children about Puerto Rican nationalism.
I want to avoid my kids being permanently indoctrinated into this ideology. Also, I went to public school in a wealthy area and it was still subpar. We couldn't start a foreign language until 8th grade. String classes started once a week in 4th grade and band in 5th. There was a very much "teach to the test" idea. My state tested different subjects per year, so in a year where science was tested it was extensively studied and then every other early year of school science was irrelevant.
I feel like I could give my child more opportunities and a richer education than they could get in a public school.
