Would you want to be aware if you were stuck in a time loop? -

Would it be better to be aware or not?

We all know Groundhog Day, but there's this short film where the time loop is due to some physical phenomena completely out of anyone's hands:

Other people have described it as the protagonist's personal hell, even though everyone else is repeating the hour too, just unaware. Wouldn't it be even worse to be unaware of it? That's truer horror right there. So I decided to make a Kiwi Farms thread over this.

Hey, it’s Johnny Treebark from Arrested Development!

Depends on a bunch of different factors. We talking like Groundhogs Day rules where I’m fully aware and can change most thing as I like, or are we talking about that one episode of TNG where the crew forgets after each reboot but retains some kind of increasing sense of deja vu after each reset?

If I carried no memories from day to day, with no aging, retaining objects, or any noticeable changes from day to day, I'd do the exact same thing every single day for eternity, because I'd only wake up with whatever memories I went to bed with the night before. There's no real way to prove you aren't in a cycle like that, anyway. Being aware of it or not wouldn't even matter, since you'd be starting up from scratch every single day.

But if I could be aware and retained only memories and knowledge (pure Groundhog's Day rules), I'd like to be aware, because at least I could spend my time getting better and better at something. Honestly, I'd love that, just winding up in a long time loop to where I could train and train on whatever I'd like, to hone different skills and study whatever I'd like without the clock ticking away. Ten years of that, please.

Of course, that loop day would also have to be one that's on a peaceful day. It'd be hellish to be aware of living in a loop day where, like, your house got broken into or something, since you'd have to get into a fight with someone every single day for an indefinite, looooooooooooooong amount of time.

While science fiction may suggest that eventually one would find enough information to break the cycle (see: Clues episode of TNG as my personal favourite example), I think it's likely one would go crazy upon realizing they are in one such sci-fi situation

Knowing my luck I'd end up doing something stupid and the time loop would suddenly end. It would probably be something simple but embarrassing, like drunkenly shitting up a thread until I get threadbanned and then pissing all the staff off by sperging all over the forum about how I deserve to be unbanned.

❤️ u really, friendo
