Wu on the issues? -

She mimics whoever is popular. I think she cares most about trans rights, obviously.

Wu's not really a face of the transgender community because Wu absolutely denies she's trans. This is why John Flynt is one of the few troons whose gender identity I'll actually entertain because she does genuinely put effort in presenting herself as a woman. Granted, I imagine she'd make some pro-LGBT statements but considering her opposition holds basically the exact same opinions in that area it won't take her far.

That out of the way:
Do we have any information on Wu's standings?

Wu formally presents her platform on her campaign website.

I."A High Tech Economy for Massachusetts".
Wu is obsessed with STEM even though she has no background in it. Her plan is make Massachusetts a tech giant rivaling Silicon Valley. She also believes Massachusetts's strong "protections" against discrimination will make the state a superior option for marginalized individuals seeking work in the tech industry.

II. "Landmark Legislation on Privacy and Cybersecurity"
Obviously Wu is interested in internet crime. Her main claim here is she has an understanding of the Internet most Congressional authorities lack and she can bring that to bear in the allegedly under-examined area of internet security. She states "as a software engineer and technology analyst, Brianna Wu understands technology in a way no one else in congress does." She also claims her first act as Representative will be pushing for an "omnibus privacy bill".

III. Keep Massachusetts Tax Dollars in Massachusetts
"It's time for Massachusetts to stop subsidizing the conservative assault on American infrastructure. "

As time goes on we can probably expect expansion on her policies, both formally and informally. Mostly informally, as she inevitably takes to Twitter lamenting cyberbullying and those Darn Dirty GOPers keeping her from Making Massachusetts Great Again.

Not sure if it will be a real campaign issue or to just an excuse for business failure, but there's this

While Wu expressed it poorly, the "Keep our tax dollars here" thing isn't gonna be good ammo, as it's a fairly popular sentiment for house reps no matter their party. Every state sees themselves as a victim of every other state.

And no, the "stop the conservative assault on infrastructure" is not a bad line when you are running for a democratic platform in a vastly blue district. That's just preaching to the choir. And thats not getting into the part about unseating an incumbent in a primary.

We'd do better to focus on other issues.

I agree it's not really any kind of ammo. People often forget the entire point of Congress is people representing the states, not the country as a whole. Running your platform on what will be good for your state is 100% the point of any Congressional election campaign. Her third platform is pretty shallow, but cripes if that's all it takes to consider a Congressional candidate a lolcow we'd have 535 individual threads on that subject alone.

Wu's biggest weakness in regards to her platform is her focus on the tech industry and internet security. She bills herself as an expert, but we comprehensively documented her naked incompetence and crooked behavior in those arenas.

OnTheIssues.org is a site that lists the YEs/NO votes and public quotes of politicians; for example, see http://www.ontheissues.org/MA/Steve_Lynch.htm

Do we have any information on Wu's standings? Right now all I can come up with is Moon Rocks and Arcade Cabinets.

If someone were to do an interview with Wu, what hot button issues should they cover?
Wouldn't they be better off trying to get her in a Betsy Devos growth v proficiency type fuckup? So questions about stuff she should know about cybersecurity but would catch a layman off guard by sounding like something else would be best.

Great feedback on this thread. I was hoping we could find inconsistencies in her political stances, especially when it comes to things like abortion/birth control, taxation, jobs growth, military support, etc ...

It just appears that John doesn't have any positions to speak of outside of lego and 'tism.

I'd say we can use Wu's own positions against her quite easily for a lot of things.

Stuff like the Briannawuforcongress website should be somewhat poe-ish in its nature though. We should use her tweets and interviews and cut them up, or put in longer pieces behind it.

Stuff like "What I won't stand for." and inside is stuff like not standing to applaud war veterans, policemen's widows, etc.

Under defence could be "safeguarding the moon from corporate militization" and how Jeff Bezos is a greater danger to the planet then global warming.

Basically craft it as a farce but a well done satirical one.

John cares about only one thing: why don't people accept my superiority? He's latched onto tech and gaming because "Woman in Tech" is an exploitable arena.

Even in the realm of actual politicians, John stands out as being absolutely inconsistent and without any principles whatsoever. Almost anything John has ever said as if it's the height of morality, John has said the absolute opposite, too.

John really needs to be nailed down on his claims of where he got a degree and when, to encourage "real" journalists to research the issue. He would chimp the fuck out if anyone did and start shrieking about identity theft or some other crazy lie, and make a fool of himself.

While the first will likely go over well in her district, she will have no power over this issue.

The second is a pet project of techies that sounds expensive to anyone who DOES work, as it will have to be paid out of their taxes. They might be ok covering their neighbor's heart pills; they aren't down with tugboats for every screeching tranny who cuts off their balls, gets danger hair and declares xirself a woman.

The third is nothing more than personal vengeance against an imaginary enemy: she's not interested in better local policing or follow through on the rape kit testing backlog or anything that might improve her local community. No, she'll screech about "gamergate" every ten seconds and no one in District 8 will have any idea what she's on about. She wants to waste taxpayer dollars and her time representing them to fight personal enemies who have no face; the FBI themselves said it was a wild goose chase and a waste of their time.
