Christ Bearer, the Wu-Tang Clan-affiliated rapper who cut off his own penis in a drug-fueled mental breakdown more than four years ago, got married in a “very intimate” ceremony this week, he told the Daily News on Friday.
The Los Angeles rapper said he and his new wife, Cheryl, had been dating for about six months before tying the knot Monday in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Bearer, whose real name is Andre Johnson, shocked his family and friends in 2014 when he sliced off his genitals with a kitchen knife and jumped off the second-story balcony of his condo in North Hollywood.
He told The News at the time that he was extremely high on PCP and had been reading about monks and vasectomies, but he denied trying to commit suicide.
The father of three has also denied reports that surgeons were able to reattach his manhood.
“Doctors didn’t reattach it, but I definitely have some penis left,” he said months after the bizarre episode.
In an interview with TMZ, which first reported about his wedding, the 46-year-old said he’s known his now-wife for years and she has been his support system since his self-castration.
Bearer told the News he’s “not ashamed” about the penis incident and doesn’t let that event define him.
“Everything is working fine,” he told The News.
The newlywed performs as part of the rap duo Northstar, which was discovered by Wu-Tang member RZA in 1998. The duo was eventually signed by one of the labels that emerged from the hip hop group.
Bearer plans to release Northstar’s first album this year and he has also been working on a clothing line.
