I think my industry (let's say it's graphic design) is actually going to do pretty well in all this.

"After fully privatizing Deutsche Lufthansa AG a quarter-century ago, the German government will become a minority owner in an effort to rescue the country’s largest airline from economic devastation wrought by coronavirus travel restrictions. "

the News in german are a bit more detailed, Merkel and the whole political establishment in germany realy want this bailout deal and arent willing to weaken the position of Lufthansa on the european market.

Potato airways and the EU are Furious about the bailout.

So in other threads I have mentioned how Malta is opening up. Atm shops and restaurants are being opened up after obtaining a "coronavirus compliant licence". I'm talking about sit down in restaurant and have a meal and browse and buy clothes level of openness.

The only problem, because of the state of lockdown and people losing jobs, no one is buying anything. Restaurants are seeing moderate success, but shops (other than essentials) are seeing no business. I was out today and talked to several shop owners, almost all of them say the same thing. They open up at 9am, first customers at 3pm. Some of them are thinking of closing again because it costs them more in electricity and paying staff staying open than it does staying closed.

Why do I tell this, because I believe this is going to be a microcosm of what happens when the rest of the world starts opening up. People are reluctant to spend on what is not necessary during this economic downturn. I can see business opening up and not getting customers.

We are in for the long haul with economic effects of the Coronavirus. These politicians who think they can wait for a vaccine and every thing will be back to normal, that's not going to happen.

The Great Depression of 1929 brought us World War Two. The Greater Depression of 2020 is gonna bring us WW3.

WW3? I'm still waiting for a failed Austrian artist to start a new political movement. Closest we have is Kraut and Tea but he got cucked by some suit wearing fatass and he looks just as pathetic as Spoony now and I don't think he will make it outside the door five minutes without chopping his dick.

May jobs report out. Record setting addition of 2.5 million new jobs. Unemployment way down to 13%. Markets up day after day, Dow shot up over 700 points quickly today and is at over 27k, nearly what it was before the pandemic. Economy is safu, so much for the doomers and their depression.

Like I've been saying, artificially shutting it down isn't going to have as large of an impact. It will take it a couple of years to fully recover, but most will be done in the first year.

True, but at the same time the stock market just took another tumble because of speculation over more lockdowns. I don't think we're quite out of the woods just yet, but I do agree with you generally.
