Xbox officially severed ties with a Brazilian YouTuber who spread racist, sexist, homophobic, and transphobic content on social media. The announcement follows days of global protests against racial injustice and police brutality and after gaming companies like Microsoft and Sony voiced support for Black Lives Matter.

On Twitter, Xbox Brazil announced that it will no longer be working with YouTuber Mil Grau, a content creator who makes videos about Xbox games and used the word "Xbox" in several of his profile names on social media. In Portuguese, Xbox said that Mil Grau's content "does not reflect our fundamental values of respect, diversity and inclusion" and that it demands "the immediate removal of our brand from its channels, through social media companies."

The campaign to get Xbox to stop working with Mil Grau has been going on since December 2018 when ResetERA user The era of Luigi first began to spread the news of the YouTuber's offensive content. Mil Grau only has 174,000 YouTube subscribers, making his following much smaller than those like Keemstar, another YouTuber who has posted racist content, meaning that many would not have known about this had it not been for The era of Luigi.

The campaign was also aided by an email sent by journalist Eric Arraché to Xbox Boss Phil Spencer. After being told about Mil Grau's content, Spencer responded that Arraché could "rest assured that we will deal with this." The Xbox boss is known for being incredibly responsive to fans and issues on social media, whether that be voicing support for social causes or answering questions about the Xbox Series X, so few are surprised to see him try to help here.

Since Xbox announced that it would be cutting ties with Mil Grau, the YouTuber has also been banned from Twitch. Mil Grau, who was a Twitch Partner, has been served his first ban though it's not known for how long. It's unclear what content made Twitch ban him but it comes after the platform launched the Twitch Safety Advisory Council in an effort to deal with harassment and abuse on the site.

The action by Xbox may seem small in comparison to the other support and donations that gaming companies have been providing to Black Lives Matter. However, the positive response to the announcement shows that fans feel that this is a huge part of making the Xbox community more inclusive.

TBH, they were very annoying because of brand-faggotry and console flamewar.
Good.

From what I've seen on his page, granted I can't read Portuguese, but from posts on there, he was a toxic Xbox fanboy that had a "passion" for his precious game company.

Blind worship coupled with toxic behavior does not help a brand grow.

Gamers already get a bad rep as it is.

They said some truths about game journalism but for every bit of wisedom there were ten of retardeness. To be more precise, they had the idea that the achievments system of any platafform could be a good indicator that if said influencer or journalist really played the game. It doesn't sound a bad idea on theory, right? Problem is those guys are true spergs about the gamescore subject, spending 8+ hours per day playing even the shittiest indie games just for bragging cheevos and if you aren't like this you don't really like vidya according to them. XMG had a young audience, so teenagers would be constantingly harassing people about it too.

My major complain about their content is that although they were very sincere about their fanboy faggotry, they would expect to be taken serious by others as any info source. Their content script was something like that:

>Playstation exclusive gets released
"LOL THIS GAME SUCKS. WE COMPETE AGAINST THAT?"
>Playstation exclusive goes to Xbox
"HAHAHA SONY PONYS, YOU LOSE ANOTHER EX-CLUSIVE" (They got smug even when some old game like FFIX is envolved)
>Xbox exclusive goes to another platform
"Well, the game is good, no wonder it's ported to other platforms" (Cuphead is the major example of this, that was their reaction to people poking fun at them)
>Xbox exclusive is criticized by Metacritic
"THOSE CRITICS ARE BIASED AGAINST MICROSOFT BECAUSE THEY'RE SONY FANBOYS. THIS GAME IS COOL" (Crackdown 3, any nu-Halo game)
>PS4 game got yellow scores
"LOL. THIS GAME SUCKS"

Xbox Milgrau also criticizes ps4 games that are more cinematic (which I'm not a fan as well), but they worship so hard that "Quantum Break" game that is almost hilarious.

I mean, for someone who hunts journalism hypocrysy, they are pretty hypocrite themselves and being a "humor channel" isn't an excuse to act like an idiot.

EDIT: People are trying to paint them as racists as KKK, but imo they're just edgy dudebros.

So a guy on RetardEra impotently spanks his rage dick at this guy for a year and a half, until this week, when Microsoft CEO is emailed by an activist “journalist” for a site I can’t even find.

And, because they need to do something to out-virtue-signal their competition to try to get a few extra eyeballs and sales, Microsoft finally actually pretend to care enough to sever ties with this person...

And that’s somehow being treated as a victory over racist gamers?

What exactly was "Xbox" (fuck I hate how people openly personify fucking brand names) doing to "work with" this guy in the first place? Do they endorse or sponsor him? Give him free stuff? Did they have any kind of active relationship whatsoever, or did this guy just put "xbox" in some of his profile names and start console fagging? This article, like all gaming journalism articles, includes no useful details whatsoever.

More to the point, if Microsoft had some kind of active relationship with this guy, how did they not notice (for years) this "offensive" content being produced that was, upon discovery, worthy of immediate repudiation and termination of the relationship with no discussion or appeal?

That detail and the fact that a REEEEtard is "credited" with kicking this off throws up giant red flags to me.

Incidentally they also can't do jack shit to the guy for using "xbox" in his user profiles apart from forcing him to change it on their service or banning him from it. They have zero control over what he calls himself elsewhere. Their cute little "demand" is as thin as the paper it's printed on.

At first, it was just a fan channel with no relation to M$ untill they gained fame after internet fights against journalists and youtubers. They were invited by Microsoft for some events, gained a trip to the USA and had some partnership but that wore off with time.
