XCOM Chimera Squad - Danger-hair, quips, no perma-death, this game has it all.

Fireaxis has revealed a sideproject to their XCOM franchise called XCOM Chimera Squad. The idea is that you play as the commander of a SWAT team which is composed of various specialists, with aliens being a number of them.
Unfortunately it appears the SJW-brainbug has infected whoever writes the crap for this XCOM entry. Just take a look at the reveal trailer:

It appears the faith of Fireaxis in said game is so low they already offer a 50% discount on the preorder, bringing it down from 19,99€ to 9,99€. No idea how much it is in Burgerland, maybe someone can check.
While I approve of the gameplay ideas presented with the other trailer, I do not like the design changes to the various aliens, especially the Muton. He looks like lettuce or something.

Overall, I'm worried about this.

Barring the SJW stuff the impression that I'm getting is that this game is a test bed for XCOM 3 ideas. The tiered turn times and alien squaddies are two features I can see being in the next big XCOM game. I've also seen a few things indicating that this was farmed out to a side team or company and not the XCOM A-team which could possibly explain the social justice stuff, not as much quality control in terms of story. Overall I'm curious to see how much polish the game/mechanics have considering the late reveal and release date.

Definitely seems like a spin-off/filler content until XCOM 3 comes out. Offering it cheap before launch is similarly a good idea, but it seems to be a very recent trend now.

Five years ago, this trailer would have been an April Fool's joke, with a followup two days later where the crew of wacky zany Mary Sues is on their way to the next mission but a failed mind control attempt spooks the guy with the rocket launcher and he fires into the ground in front of everybody inside a loaded skyranger.
