Do you have any movies that just put you in a warm mood? Maybe they're unlikely selections for a group movie night but you find their headspace reassuring? Share them here, with clips and details if possible.

I'll start.

Visions of the future don't age well. I love 80's scifi and this movie in particular on account of how much it all used to terrify me VS how quaint I find it now. Watching these alternate futures reassures me because the future as we'll soon know it will likely be much more cold and alien than Sean Connery & Peter Hyams could ever imagine.

Everything still seemed possible back then, but was it youth or just a more innocent time?
The music really hits the mark sometimes, IMO it expresses adolescent wonder very well. The town these characters all live in is so beautiful & I love to see it on film. There's a rich vein of 80's innocence in this movie.

The Adventures of Baron Munchausen. It's actually in my top ten films and Terry Gilliam is my favourite director. Even though this isn't my favourite film of his, it's the one I enjoy watching the most. I'm in awe of the amount of imagination that went into practically every shot and the set design's breathtaking. There's nothing quite like it.

I saw the trailer for it when I was a kid and was absolutely intrigued by it. When I finally got to watch it years later, I was thrilled to see it was every bit as weird as the trailer implied. The trailer on its own is amazing, so if you don't feel like checking out the film, at least watch the trailer:

Sometimes when I'm alone I have a compulsion to watch S.W.A.T., Master and Commander or Troy. My brain knows that none of those movies are worth watching again but what're you gonna do.

The Incredibles, for being a childhood classic.
Upgrade, because watching action scenes that are well-shot is nice.
This will sound wierd, but the Kung Fu Panda trilogy. The music from Zimmer, the decent animation, the levity mixed with some actual serious moments, it all just works for me.
And last but not least, Bicentennial Man. I don't care what anyone says, I love that film.

My Ghibli movie answer is Whisper of the Heart, but otherwise I’m going to say The Neverending Story. The book was one of my favorites and the movie still makes me happy when I’ve got a cold or it’s a miserable rainy day.
The Goonies and Dead Poets Society are close runners-up.

Ghibli is very comfy. My choice is Kiki's Delivery Service.

The first Incredibles is one of my favorite films of all time. The sequel was such a crushing disappointment.
The best part was when Elastigirl was biking around the city. You could clearly tell they thought about how a stretchy power could be used in cool ways. I did like the concept of Mr. Incredible really wanting to get back in the game, but they failed.

Fury. I've watched this movie more times than I care to admit. I just like watching the tank chug through the war like the little engine that could. I like the tank battles, their camaraderie within the tank (and how that plays out in the end), and watching NORMAN! go from a pussy to Nazi killer.

Even though I know the outcome of the scenes; there still a tense feeling watching them. The copious cinematography shots of within the tank gives you the false impression you're the 5th member of the crew that's just voyeuristically silent.

The more I think about Incredibles 2 the more things I find in it to dislike. The villain sucked balls, there was no real growth or development for anyone whatsoever, Dash and Edna did absolutely nothing of value to the plot, the new characters were not interesting, the Mr. Mom shit with Bob was stupid and honestly kind of insulting (why did they turn him into such a bumbling oaf?), and Jack-Jack wore out his welcome very fast. It was pretty to look at, but that was about it.

I love the "Motherfucker gets stuck alone in space and goes crazy" genre, so Astronaut: The Last Push is an interesting one. It's almost a mockumentary.

Exactly. I could have been so much better if they just focused on the idea of the family being vigilantes, and having the story come from there.
