The Walt Disney company has hired many talented people over the years to help create their films and television shows, and even for bringing their parks to life. One of the most important jobs for Disney is their songwriters. And they have created incredible music that has spanned decades.

So for this thread, name your favorite Disney songs, name as many as you like! And if you feel like it, explain why you love it so much

Mine:

Grim Grinning Ghosts: This song is the theme to Disney's The Haunted Mansion ride. This ride is and always has been my favorite, since I was a kid, so this spectral hootenanny of a song will ALWAYS hold a special place in my heart

Hellfire: This song is sung by Frollo in The Hunchback of Notre Dame and it is probably the most tortured song that Disney has ever produced. It deals with Frollo's inner turmoil over his lust for Esmeralda, and his fear of tainting his soul with impurity. It's such an amazing song, and actually makes you sympathize with Frollo, if only briefly. Also, it is sung brilliantly by the late Tony Jay.

Poor Unfortunate Souls: This is sung by Ursula in The Little Mermaid. I have to be up front, I am a sucker for villains, and Disney creates some of the best villains that have ever existed. I love Ursula's song, and I am a fan of the entire film's soundtrack. This number is probably the slowest-pace song in the entire film, but I love it

I Wanna Be Like You: This is sung by King Louie in The Jungle Book. Oh man, do I love this song. It's so upbeat, it makes you just want to get up and dance when you hear it. Louie sings this song to Mowgli to try to learn the secret of how to make fire, and as a trade, will allow Mowgli to live under his protection in the jungle.

Zero to Hero: This is sung by the muses in Hercules, and is basically just them gushing over how quickly Hercules has risen to stardom, all while being set to a montage of Hercules effortlessly defeating every monster Hades throws at him. No real deep reason why I like it, it's just catchy as hell.

You're Welcome: sung by Maui in Disney's newest film, Moana. This song gave me a lot of "Zero to Hero" vibes, although they are very different. I was also surprised to learn Dwayne Johnson can sing!

Once Upon a Time in New York City: This is sung by Huey Lewis in the kind of obscure Disney film Oliver. It sets up the prologue to the film and while kind of depressing, especially if you're hearing it while watching the movie, it's still a really good song.

Oogie Boogie's Song: This is sung by the the titular character (of the song) in The Nightmare Before Christmas. I think the reason this song stands out so much to me is it is completely different from every other song in the movie. Every song in the film has that Danny Elfman/Tim Burton feel to it. Except this one. This one is like a lounge/jazz song, and it is awesome. It is probably the reason Oogie Boogie has become one of the most famous Disney villains, despite only having about ten minutes of screen time during the entire film

Shiny: sung by Tamatoa in (oh hey this movie showed up again) Moana: This is the villain song of the film, and it's a doozy. Tamatoa's personality was based on David Bowie and it really shows in this song, where Tamatoa sings about himself and how great he is. It's a very well written, and excellently performed song.

I have a couple:

I won't lie, this is one of my favorite villain songs next to "Poor Unfortunate Souls" and "Hellfire" (if we're limiting it only to Disney songs). It's got great atmosphere and the visuals that accompany it are quite haunting and I love how it invokes Nazi imagery, fitting for Scar's ambitions.

Ali Ababa...

I love this song, it's probably one of Robin William's high points (not just in the film, either) and the animation that accompanies it has the right amount of snappiness to match the tone of this song's comedic nature.

This was always a personal favorite of mine. The song's melody is catchy as fuck and the changes in tempo really adds to the seriousness and to the comedic nature depending on what mood it wants to portray at the moment. Not to mention that chorus is one of the best I've seen in a non-villain Disney song. Helped along with the booming "BE A MAN" choir.

Bare Necessities (Jungle Book)

Don't Smile at Crocodiles (Peter Pan)
The vocal version used to be karaoke-tape exclusive only. I always thought it was funny how a crocodile ate both a hand and alarm clock.

Make a Man (Mulan)

All because they have steady strong beats.

I adore the entire soundtrack to Hunchback of Notre Dame, it's very atmospheric and gets me in a creative mood.

This, however, is probably the most haunting song from anything of Disney's in my opinion:

Hellfire, while really good, actually isn't my favorite song in Hunchback. That distinction goes to the intro song, Bells of Notre Dame. Which is probably my favorite song in any Disney movie and really that whole sequence is the best part of the movie.

Honestly this movie is the only one with music which really sticks out to me. I'm not a big fan of musicals but damn were the songs in this one good.

Most Disney songs are great, and even the ones that aren't are usually above average. It helps that a lot of people have sentimental attachment to these songs.

None. I particularly find one song to be VERY disturbing and very funny at the same time.
