What are some of your first MMO's you've played? Mine we're Wizard 101, a game about being a wizard a saving a magical called the Spiral from a wizard of death. The other game I'd played, but not as much as Wizard 101, is Disney's Pirates of The Caribbean Online; you got to sail the seven seas as you do classic ship game battles.

How good was Runescpe? Ik the classic is still going to this day.
i remember it being fantastic. if i went back i'd probably be more bored now but i had many late nights playing it. very light hearted tone which contrasts to doom and gloom of many other mmos. lots of unique quests, many more infamous than others. free building characters without classes or focus on one type of combat. plus all the memes. grinding say maximum wood cutting level sucked but grinding sucks in all mmos. even the free to play area had a lot of stuff.

No, there was to big of a paywall for my young self. Though I did manage to grind enough cash for a house.
Yeah, we all had to pay in order to get the other worlds; I just kept on grinding levels until; I was given money by my mom way later. I don't know if it's worth going back to or not.

I played the WOW demo but didn't find it interesting enough to pay a monthly subscription.
Friend tried to get me into runescape but i thought it was trash.

Runescape was definitely first. I can still remember the unveiling of the Grand Exchange... and making my first fortune from it.

After that it was a solid run through the Korean MMO craze when it came, with some fruitless attempts to gain access to Ragnarok Online due to weirdly specific negativity towards it by my parents. I must have played every new release back then, but I could never find a firm footing in any of them. I have never played WoW, though. I just didn't have enough cash as a kid.

then wow
Really comfy back in 2007 or so, eventually they added a centralised marketplace (Grand Exchange) which removed a lot of fun trading opportunities. OSRS is still going strong though afaik.

I miss OG runescape, and I miss the chill af community too. Nothing but ruined memories left of that now.

What's it's about?
This game itself is a really old eastern-dynasty themed MMORPG made in 2006, which featured Hack and slash combat and is still alive to my surprise. Its really easy to pick up and play. Played it for hundreds of hours in the days, just for farming rare weapons alone.
Yet, the downturn was that the publisher was one hell of greedy assholes, and the devs were lazy. The game itself never really got updated the game with anything new, the graphics alone are still shitty but it was quite alright for its days.

Anarchy Online. I got into making over powered low level characters and helping random teams through the popular low level dungeons.
Most gear had a stat requirement instead of a level requirement, so the more effort and arcane shit you could put up with, the stronger you could get your character. Laddering, equipping pillows that buffed strength, that allowed you to put in better stat boosting implants, that allowed you to put on better stat buffing armour, that allowed you to equip better strength buffing pillows, that allowed you to put in better implants etc etc until you couldn't keep track of everything anymore. Loved that shit.
