But on a serious note. I always saw it as some extreme form of control over people. You see it a lot in serial killers and that one crazy doctor Carl Tanzler. I also remember seeing an interview with a necrophiliac woman, and it seemed like she had problems trusting men. She was a mortician.
I read about Tanzler, although it seems his was just a plain obsession with the girl.
For the control stuff I think it's the most common reason - I mean, a corpse can't say no, or treat you badly, or hurt your feels, etc.
Like, didn't Jeffrey Dahmer murder the guys because he didn't want them to leave after sex?

He tried to make them zombies first. Then he ate them, but is was some form of ultimate control with him.
So it was just some form of sociopathy/other mental illness in the end.
I read somewhere that 1/10 necrophiles is actually homicidal, but since those are the ones who often make the news there's this conception they are all murderous.

And even tho there wasn't anything sexual in what he did, nobody remembers this guy?
He made like 20 dolls out of dead children because he believed they talked to him and asked him to adopt them. He didn't murder anybody for example
