YouTube app no longer allows picture-in-picture for music unless you gib shekels for Premium -

So I literally just noticed this yesterday but when I started playing some music in the youtube app it threw a "upgrade to Premium" pop up at me. I dismiss it without reading and go back to my browser and the music stopps. Apparently google has decided that videos tagged music should not allow picture-in-picture/out of app play unless you give them money for a premium subscription. Fucking bullshit! I don't remember hearing anything about this

I've updated the youtube app and android regularly. Never had this happen until yesterday

Don't know what to tell you, then. As far as I know you're now getting the same experience as everyone else who uses the YouTube app. If you want music to play in the background from YouTube you can download a browser app (not Chrome, and preferably with a built in adblocker) and use YouTube from there. You won't see the picture but you can hear the audio, which should be fine for just listening to music.

Well this is just another reason to not be a nigger and actually download FLAC files like a white man. FLAC files are totally distinguishable from MP3s because they're just so high quality.
