Mod Edit: Although the OP focuses far more heavily on several specific YouTubers, the thread is intended to discuss any commentary channels, big and small, that get involved in any notable drama.
YouTube commentary is one of the oldest genres on the website, dating back to at least 2009. Initially made popular by YouTubers like Blackbustercritic and Youngbloodfantasy91, What was once glorified reaction videos spun off from the rant community has grown into one of the most popular genres on the website.
The first commentator to become mainstream in the YouTube scene was LeafyisHere, back in around 2016. He gained traction for his videos where he essentially bullied autistic kids, not too dissimilar from this website. These videos were nothing special even back then, but were popular because it was funny to see someone make fun of these people, because they often deserved it. Although the community eventually fell out of favour with him, as a result of him not paying his editors, as well as a legendary video by future cuckold iDubbbz, he spawned thousands of clones and imitators, some even surpassing him in subscribers such as Pyrocynical.
After early 2017, the commentary genre eventually died down, with LeafyisHere disappearing from the internet, as well as YouTubers like Pyrocynical, Imalexx and Elvis The Alien moving their content away from commentary, focusing on more safe, advertiser-friendly content. However, as of late, the commentary community has had a renaissance of sorts, with YouTubers like Turkey Tom, Nicholas Deorio, The Right Opinion, AugieRFC and John Swan gaining massive popularity. Although these YouTubers are far more talented than the commentators back in 2016, with their videos often being hour-long exposés, these content creators have shown to be immature, to say the least.
Turkey Tom was the first YouTuber from the modern commentary scene to blow up. His first real video of note was a now deleted video on The Mysterious Mr. Enter, which can be viewed here. He received backlash and eventually a response from Enter himself because of the jokes calling him a pedophile for his cartoon Growing Around. He also had a video on known pedophile and lolicon apologist Digibro which met the same fate. Most recently, he had a spat with Pyrocynical. For those who have a life, Pyro was caught sexting a 15 year old boy, sending him disgusting furry inflation pornography. Tom made a couple videos on this, proving the DMs between them were real, and refuting any misconceptions. Pyrocynical then made a video response, where he basically admits to doing it, however due to him being a big YouTuber, his stanbase accepted this for whatever reason, and turned on Tom. Turkey Tom stood his ground and made a video responding to the response, however public opinion was not on his side (despite him being right) and he ended up leaving the internet. He is still currently M.I.A. #turkeytomdidnothingwrong
AugieRFC is basically the Ethan Ralph or Andy Warski of the commentary community, with his show After Hours essentially being the Killstream for this group. This is where commentators go to yell at each other, amongst other shit. Augie himself is rather uninteresting, he has a pretty big ego for someone that talks about Twitter drama but whatever, it's his cohost Bowblax who's of note. For one, Bowblax is literally autistic. He actually has a channel about Autism specifically where he talks over Sonic Adventure 2 gameplay. He also made a Black Lives Matter parody song back in 2016, where he sings about how black lives matter more than others, so not only is he retarded, but he's also based and redpilled. He's been known to copyright strike any reuploads, which has led to some pretty great spergouts.
John Swan is one of the better YouTubers in the community, his videos are pretty high quality and he seems to know what he's talking about. That doesn't mean he isn't at least a little spergy though. He threatened to file legal action against one of Chris Hanson's goons for doxxing him, which is funny because apparently his real name was on his YouTube bio, you would essentially just have to phonebook the guy to find his personal information. He's also become involved recently in drama with fellow YouTuber Dream. Dream basically accused him on some small subreddit of impersonating him and calling some 12 year old a nigger, which is inconsequential but he decided to respond anyways and say that he's slandering him. There was some back and forth which ultimately led to him making a Google Doc with "evidence" that he didn't call that 12 year old the hard R. Dream also livestreamed his rebuttal, which ended up making "John Swan" the #1 on Twitter's trending page. A couple days later though, he came out and said that he lied about the whole thing, and that he actually did impersonate Dream, meaning that he lied to not only the people, but his friends. Classy. Although it's only been a couple days, he's deleted his Twitter in the wake of him admitting to lying.
I wasn't going to mention Nicholas DeOrio, since I don't think he's done anything really of interest, but apparently he *really* didn't want to be in this thread, so here you go; https://archive.md/dM7bv
Apparently he gets doxxed every time he livestreams, so idk why he's so scared of already public information being that much more accessible
As you can see, these guys are pretty autistic. I think it would be of worth to watch over these guys, as they've already shown that they're prone to doing stupid shit. A couple of them have already left the community, and I'm sure there's going to be more. This is a community that's known for cannibalizing themselves as shown by Leafy, and Zaptie, and many other examples. it shouldn't be long before all these guys are pit against each other from their own actions.
