I've been reading that political YouTubers have been hit as well. Obvious victims are Repzion who is salty, but others like Blaire White and shoe0nhead have been hit for their content.

I'm not certain if the same applies towards MTV Decoded, Riley Dennis, or others in the opposite end, but you get the gist.

And finally the crème de la crème of this e-whining, the Nostalgia Critic's very own "where's the fair use?" where he complains that he can't just stream the entirety of a movie for profit on the most mainstream website on the entirety of the internet and dodge consequences by splicing in his reactions.
The inclusion of a Canuck and a Brit shows Walker isn't as informed about copyright laws as he claims to be. Fair Use is an American thing. Other countries have their own copyright laws. What might be passable in one country could be considered copyright violation in another. Just look at Japan and doujinshis. Try that same shit in the US and you'd get slapped with a cease-and-desist by the end of the week.

Before you know it, we will see people like Seananners working at Burger King. This topic sucks. (Kinda power level) My family owns a business and when it comes to free marketing (Youtube can be one) it really depends on the ads, and who is doing it. You don't just want anyone showing off your products, you want a good representative. I think these gaming companies have every right to say no on what ads are thrown out into the world. It is their product and they can say yes or no to who gets to showcase it or make money off of it.

99% of these people are idiots pumping out clickbait to cash in on idiots, I have no sympathy at all. Paying people to make this trash in the first place was probably a mistake.

What's sad is that Youtube used to not be a complete shithole. There was at one point a pool of talented people who submitted skits and songs when it first hit the scene. Like, I mean, actual original content.

God, seeing a video with effort and talent just made me fucking depressed. The worst part is that it's not even that stellar, it's just effort.

I need to cleanse my palette with something stupid and petty. A Jim Sterling video will do.

I just looked, this woman must upload at least one 30 minute game video every day, and they only get 1000~5000 views on average. That must be over a gigabyte of storage every single day for $1-5 of adbux. At some point, even Google must realize they can't possibly economically store all this worthless shit forever.

I've been seeing this happen a lot with just about every single channel I like to watch having their own respective video about being demonetized, and I've come to the following conclusion:

There is no huge conspiracy other than Google/ YouTube likes money, and giving people incentive to post videos on their servers which don't return a profit is bad business practice. So they ally with bigger corporations with actual budgets and give them free passes whilst Johnny FaceCam gets the shaft.

But YouTube has the issue of the "You" in their name. For a decade plus, YT prided themselves on being a hub for creator content, but quickly realized for every one PewDiePie and Smosh they could exploit, they have to be saddled with ten-thousand squeaky Minecraft LP's that do nothing but waste time and bandwidth. So, systematically for years, YT's corporate has been playing Minesweeper with their own base, trying to weed out the problems without just out and out saying "You little fuckers aren't making us money. Fuck you, get off our server."

Youtube doesn't care about it's userbase. It doesn't care what you have to say so long as it doesn't get them in hot water. It just wants your money and it realized the quickest way to do that is just ape cable TV and promote shit like "Late Night with Funny Man" and "Sportsball" and "Interviews With Popular Peoples."

Pretty much this. But I'd also like to mention that Google takes a similar approach both with websites and with its staff. As has happened with all those terminated because they have different "thinkspeak" than others. Neither site cares for anyone unless it generates revenue, but with YouTube they kind of screwed the pooch with the name, as it can mean a myriad of things like "You host our content" or "You don't make us money, good bye."

As such, this never-ending pissing match between YouTube's automated system, its untouchable content providers and its general userbase is the result of corporate and personal greed on all sides. And unfortunately, that means a lot of people pissy about their videos being demonetized and demonized by YouTube all the while Google reaps in the follies of their actions. And because of that, we keep seeing a bunch of entitled manchildren (and actual children) making video upon video about YouTube not giving them the money they want need. Even though they should be lucky YouTube hasn't deleted their videos, or worse, terminated their account.

But that's the internet and its infinite :autism: for you.

Couldn't have happened to a better group of people. I hate pretty much every youtuber out there. Most of them are shady as fuck IRL and need to get off their high horses.

Which is why they never demonetize videos posted by a major network (ie Kimmel, Conan)...

This reminds me of the frequent work stoppages in professional sports leagues over money... the owners say they deserve most of the profits because without them, there would be no one to pay the players. The players say they deserve most of the money because, without them, there would be nothing for the owners to own. Both sides demonize the other to get the "Fans" to side with them, while the fans are only saying "call us when the pissing match is over, you're our entertainment, not our obligation."

That's because such channels are providing their own advertising contracts. Some people are unaware that some ads on Youtube (mostly on channels belonging to the old media) are only delivered by Youtube, not sold by them.
If you want advertisers to show ads on your videos, make a deal directly with them. Youtube then knows that you both agree to each others content and everyone's happy.

Getting sponsorships instead of relying on Youtube's ad revenue system means they can't touch your money. If I were these guys, I'd still leave the ad revenue on for the occasional bump in income when a video hasn't been demonitized and otherwise ignore it.

That's why many channels get a Patreon, do sponsored videos, or have literal ads in their videos.
Gotta diversify the revenue.

Honestly seeing these YouTubers piss and moan about using patreon or PayPal makes me laugh like maybe don't think just sending videos on a website that you don't own and then think they are owed money for them. Like I get a few rules and I hate the double standards but being a baby about not getting paid because this isn't a job won't help that

the cable T.V. analogy is so perfect.

nobody knows what makes a video go viral, so it's not something you can easily plan around. trim the tranny shit, nix the mgtow garbage and pump out generic, general interest clips with more mass market appeal because it's far easier to predict the numbers, which is good for both buying and selling adspace.

The funniest thing is that people are calling it "censorship". It's not. You can still post whatever the fuck you want, you can post your 5-10 minute tirades on why cultural appropriation is bad or why certain people like Anita Sarkeesian are crazy. You can post your reaction videos and all that stuff... go ahead dude. You're just not getting paid for it.
