For the past two years, the Boston Basic Income YouTube channel has been live streaming our weekly discussion group as we explore different topics as they relate to basic income (UBI). We’ve covered nearly 100 different topics as varied as The Housing Market, the Green New Deal, Say’s Law, the Great Depression, and Consumer Monetary Theory.

Our recorded discussions have been a useful resource for people who seek to gain a deeper understanding of basic income. The videos contain important basic income content that just isn’t available anywhere else or in any other form. Except not. Because now it isn’t available anywhere.

As far as I can tell, the offending content is our upcoming discussion with special guest Karl Widerquist. In other words, it’s content that doesn’t even exist yet. Karl is a philosophy professor who has been writing about basic income for decades. Perhaps YouTube is employing a Minority-Report-style PreCrime unit that foresees Karl committing an act so heinous as to get the entire channel banned. But I don’t think so.

Have you seen how cheap hard drives are? A 10TB HDD is the price of a 2TB SSD.
Yeah, though considering it's Google, I'm not even thinking money issues. Hard drive sizes still top out at a certain point, and the fact that YouTube can handle countless random retards worldwide uploading just months and months worth of worthless video every single day - video game footage, livestream archives, nobodies ranting into their webcam, unwatchable concert footage recorded with a cell phone, vlogs, podcasts, videos of animals and children not doing anything interesting, memes where it's the same two second clip over and over for 10 hours, terrible songs, you name it. Exabytes of trash carelessly thrown up onto YouTube and forgotten about, but readily accessible if you know exactly what to search for, even years later. And in 4K when applicable. I don't even know how that's possible. Western Digital only just announced their first 20TB HDD back in September 2019, and you'd still need fifty of those hard drives to mount up to 1PB.

I'm sure Google has some kind of secretive proprietary flash memory array that uses whatever tech can cram an entire terabyte into a single MicroSD, but managing the sheer health of so much flash memory, so many hard drive platters, and so many data centers all around the world that mirror everything held by Google has got to be a logistical nightmare. Even beyond the pricing and the tech, I don't even know how it's all possible without things just constantly going catastrophically wrong left and right.

Plus, Google has that reputation of just never deleting anything, and I've never found out if that includes YouTube videos, too. Like they need to permanently dedicate an entire terabyte to some autistic guy from Nova Scotia's shitty meme videos he made a decade ago when he was 12 and has since deleted because he grew up.

Also shoa-ing factual reporting on CCP and WHO COVID cover-up. And footage out of China in general.

The same thing happened to Dear Leader quite some time ago. He had a stream yanked from Youtube before it even aired because J. Yaniv DMCA'd the picture being used in the preview thumbnail.

Perhaps the BBI folks figured it's fine for YouTube to do this to everyone else but them. :story:
