Ive discovered 2 channels that focus on modern Africa, particularly its most infamous figures: NewAfrica and AFRISTORY PRODUCTIONS.

Its simplified but for those who are interested in African History, they make a good entrance.
Also helps that its made by actuall Africans.
I've seen a few of that channel's videos. They're very informative for people who never really think of post-colonial African leaders beyond the few that get Western attention. Probably one of the best channels focusing on Africa I have seen out there.
Lindy is a retarded British nationalist so everything is through his proud Anglo eyes. I don't even mind it as it's pretty funny whenever it's relevant and he's certainly aware of this, but it's silly to say there's no bias.
Lindy being a spergy British nationalist is part of the charm for me. He can call Napoleon Beta Hitler all he wants and I'll still find it charming.
I watched one of Invicta's videos recently after YouTube shilled them incessantly and whoever illustrated it took Romans having "olive" skin a little too literally.
It's not as bad as the BBC's 'olive' Romans still.

Has anyone watched this yet? Is it full of Reddit memes every second like his other videos? Does he autistically screech about slavery or how the Hunley is evil because of the South or something?

It had a few examples of "hurdur south bad because slaves" , your average modern civil war "revisionism" to le own the confedtards or whatever , and it had a wannabe Internet historian intro , but it is no where near his worst video , still shit though.

Less egregious than I would have expected. Did he bring on or mention Atun-Shei to fellate the dead horse that is owning the dixietards?

I cannot believe that I missed this thread. This video is made by a channel that didn't like the direction Dovahhatty(the bisexual furry) was going and had personal beef with him. Its probably the reason Dovahhatty started his Byzantium series. The guys who run the channel are actually based. Apparently, they're working on an Alexander video and the quality of the animation will be way higher than Dovah's,
(This is a preview they posted in their discord of one of their videos, of Darius III commanding his army to defeat Alexander from a tower and the second video is another snippet of the same video

My main concern is that due to being run by right wing reactionaries(I don't use the term as a pejorative, I could describe myself as that), that autistic left wing youtube historians will try to treat to start drama with them.

I don't really care for the Dovah drama. That furfag can jerk off to scat or whatever so long as he keeps it in his Discord but the parody (I guess you could call it that) channel that started doing Medieval Rome before him has some team working on it. I say team loosely because it's more like individual Discord groups making their own autistic videos on a myriad of topics.

I look forward to leftists huffing up their own farts to take these channels seriously however. I'm still curious how Dovah will portray the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his followers.

The thing that differentiates this channel from Dovah is while Dovah is ideologically a centrist and a degenerate and some more moderate left wingers might give him the benefit of the doubt., the three main people running Malthius are third postionists, along with most of the modding team, and users who for some reason don't care about moderating posts that go way above the bare minimum to have the troons running discord nuke the server. They have been banned several times before from discord but they don't take any precautions to prevent future bans. While I have no moral qualms with people posting Dylan Roof memes(some unironically), the troon admins at discord and the ADL that they partner with certainly will.

So, to complete my descent into being a massive faggot, I've been considering on trying my own hand at making history videos for youtube in the excess of downtime I've got. It's also motivated by the fact that I want to actually be a history teacher one of these days, but currently reality has slapped down my ambitions. Any advice you lot have for going down this route (aside from the obvious: don't)? I've been working on a first set of videos with Rise and Fall of the Third Reich as a loose base, but like my other internet project, I'm basically jumping in head first without any further plans.

Also, to not be too much of a parasitical faggot, has anybody here watched Fascinating Horror? They're focused on the history of usually smaller-scale accidents, events, and disasters like the Cocoanut Grove Fire or the time a literal child crashed a plane. I like the narrator, and while I can't vouch for accuracy too well but what times I have delved further the content seems to have been more or less accurate.

I've notice that of PT. His only descent takes are mostly copy and pasted from actual professonal historians usually from the British Tank Museum. A good example is that I remember when the British tank museum did a video partly on the T-35 and why multi-turret tanks don't work which and not long after that video came out potential history decided to borrow most of the things that were said in his dead ends video. Otherwise pretty much anything original pt might say is reddit tier garbage along with his unfunny reddit memes.

Edit: Also the British Tank Museum is a pretty good channel to check out.

If you wanna go for something more spicy, I'd cover Chinese civil war equipment, even though you probably don't care. Still, Third Reich should be something you do when you're far advanced into the channel.

Also, Mark Felton? Hack cites no sources, and the M8 shooting down a King Tiger is basically a myth.

EDIT: Also the Bovington/British Tank Museum is full of inaccuracies too. I don't have specific examples on hand right now, but take them with a grain of salt.

Potential History is insanely lazy. He's notorious in the history community for his reddit-tier takes and complete lack of editing talent. It's not that he can't make a good video, it's that he refuses to. I couldn't even get two minutes into his latest video because the audio mixing is ear-destroyingly AWFUL. The guy can't even take the time to do a basic Noise Removal in Audacity. For those who don't know, a Noise Removal is an entirely automatic process for eliminating background noise like hissing, static, etc, and requires pressing two buttons and highlighting one section of the audio track as a reference point. Some of his videos (like his Girls Und Panzer Das Finale video) are so badly edited they have blatant errors right in the middle, which he never bothers fixing.

Beyond that, he is so unprofessional it cost at least one other content creator quite a bit of money and exposure when he agreed to do a collaboration, but fucked around for so long that the partner (I believe it was the Armchair Historian,) had to go ahead and release their half with a ton of last-minute edits to cover the stuff he should've been doing.

Surprised this wasn't posted here, and I'm not sure what OP thinks about OverSimplified but his latest video on Napoleon dropped a few days ago.
I am surprised more people don't talk about OverSimplified too, considering the massive amounts of views on Youtube as well as the fact the topics in the videos are pretty normie, such as Napoleonic War, February and October Revolution, ACW, Revolutionary War, etc. I am also surprised because the videos are particularly bad as they have gotten longer. OS used to be 10 minute videos but then they became 15, then 30, then 60 in two parts. And yet they have still remained just as wrong. In all honesty, this is probably mainly because of the fact he is still using "standard narratives" which can often be outdated or disputed in academy, but no one wants to say "this is disputed, here are the different ideas" in an "approachable" video. For example when he talked about the Petrograd "famine" he basically implied it was an actual food shortage, which has long been a part of the "standard narrative" but wasn't really true, it was more like there were shortages in certain areas which sparked rumors of a massive shortage, so the army brought in massive amounts of food but it was too late because hysteria broke out over food that was actually there.
Even though I'm pretty sure he's gotten things wrong at times, which is going to happen when you "over simplify" events, I always enjoy his videos. He puts a lot of effort into them production and writing wise. The humor might not be for everyone though, but it's typically non-offensive and I think makes history fun for beginners, high school/college students and just anyone curious about historical events kinda like the history of the world/Japan videos by Bill Wurtz.
I personally find the jokes unfunny and childish (and sometimes distasteful) but that doesn't necessarily have to harm the video. The biggest problem is the jokes give such a wrong impression that they can often just end in people taking away blatantly wrong conclusions, for example how in the Russian Revolution pt.1 video he portrays Emperor Nicholas II as partying all the time, actually he cut the court budget and his own personal budget more than his father or grandfather and donated large parts of it, especially during the massive Famine of 1891. Lots of people could come away thinking that he increased spending on court life or something similar, which is not true. And honestly, if he cut down on all the time he spent joking, the videos wouldn't have to be as "oversimplified". You can still explain concepts on a basic level and put more of them into a video if the jokes didn't linger on for sometimes near a minute.

are there any of his videos you feel are egregiously wrong? Whenever he's covering a topic I'm actually familiar with he's very accurate and delivers it really well

Lindy being a spergy British nationalist is part of the charm for me. He can call Napoleon Beta Hitler all he wants and I'll still find it charming.
I don't get how you can take jokes he makes and form them into a new reality. He jokes about killing the French, sure he may not like them but he also doesn't want to kill them. He is a British nationalist to be sure, but not someone who makes that a major point in his videos. And regarding the WW2 machine gun video he made, if that's your best evidence for him being biased then he's not biased. maybe it was just an honest mistake, which happens.

in the Falkland war video he made it a point to say "we" instead of "the British" because he was alive during that time. He looks down on people who think they have a connection to the past.
