He was quite explicit that that is indeed one of his goals. He has also been honest about his real intentions in the past when he talked about how him and the his pals will work their hardest to deplatform and silence every wrongthinking voice they can in the run up to the 2020 elections.

I doubt banning Crowder would set a precedent, as the precedent already exists: "you're here until someone cries for you to be removed".
It'd be easier for Youtube or Twitter simply ban everybody they don't like, but that's not their m.o. They want to make a scandal and larp as "nazi hunters". Youtube could have just banned and shut down Dankula's channel, but they didn't. Even the dog video that caused all his problems is there for everybody to watch. Why not ban him for being a "Nazi"? or Sargon? or many other people who are still somehow relevant in anti-SJW politics?
Because if they mass-ban them, then many journos can't be the heroes who brought them down. A Buzzfeed article got Dankula demonetized. It was many differnet articles accusing Sargon of being a rape-apologist. Now, it's some fagot from Vice (or Vox? I don't even care) being the heroic martyr who wants to bring Crowder down and expose his head as a war trophy.
These people know well what they are doing. They know they need "dragons" to kill, sort of speak. If they ban Richard Spencer, the alt-right is over. He's still around like nothing happened. The only thing he "suffered" was to have his bluemark removed. They keep banning Laura Loomer from places because they know it gets to her and makes her look and act more unhinged. This would imply that these journalist activists don't believe what they are saying. I disagree, they have bought into their own narrative of fighting oppression hook, line and sinker. Maza might also know the benefits of shit stirring, but there is no way a guy who has worked for Media Matters would not believe that silencing dissenting voices will be beneficial to society as a whole.

Laura Loomer is a mental case who actually does shit that even legally would justify banning her physical presence. She's not a great case for comparison for banning people for nothing but speech.
