I think it'll be really fun with some hardcore capitalism.
Guy drips blood at the sight of pepsi? Coke starts monetizing it. That'll be interesting.

That's my biggest problem, the algorithm, it won't know jack shit. I would complaint about the obvious predictable unfair ratio of SJW/Alt-Right restricted videos but 1 SJW screams as much as 10 alt-rights.

I went to go watch that H3H3 video, and would you believe it, there was a fucking coke ad on it.

Youtube is a business, ergo they have the right to censor those who they deem Trump nazi fartknockers who don't check their privilege. Yeah it sucks but if people are so mad about it why not just leech onto another video sharing site and popularize that one? I think the majority of content creators and commenters already view Youtube as an utter joke, there could very well be a suitable alternative in the future.

Because they wouldn't be able to complain. And complaining is their only content.

The real fucked part in here is that some people take the e-money for realsies in here, and youtube's ads has just decided that they don't want them not because of quality or effort and instead have abandoned all semblance of meritocracy in favor of PC.

Tl;DR Youtube isn't just a business, is showbiz, e-hollywood.

Nobody considers other video sharing sites to be in serious competition, so anything YT does is high stakes. If you really want to move off onto something like vid.me, you should really just shout into a pillow because you're the only one there.
That said, I'm pretty sure the censorship mode is going to be limited to stuff like ISIS propaganda videos. Earlier in the year, YT said that they targeted viewers of flagged extremest content and increased the amount of counter-propaganda videos in their video suggestions.

This tbh, the really inflamatory part is liberal news claiming (hoping) that this will be the end of alt-right vids and that community reacting badly to it. At the end of the day Alts will look stupid and SJWs will keep on bitching.

And this is why Socialism cock suckers don't know shit.

I like Jim. Very, very few people can go between making perfect sense and sounding like a complete lunatic in the same goddamn sentence.

Granted, he's been making videos of this sort for -years- now. Here's something he made back when he was under the name GamesGoodMeBad - If you have 45 minutes to spare, you'll notice a lot of similar talking points and statements that seem less ridiculous in hindsight.

Yeah... These vids are pretty fucking embarrassing, honestly - repeating ad verbatim what most of us really know by now: that YouTube has a bottom line to keep up with, not the whims of some fuckers whining about sweet nothings (that can be gotten around with time and patience, too!) in their cars for the umpteenth time.

Also, YouTube sucks and could use real competition - Vimeo is a good option, DailyMotion not so much. Other than that, YouTube did nothing wrong, in terms of business practices to get them off their asses, of course. I say THAT because there is still plenty wrong here, in terms of who this hurts.

In the grand scheme of things, there's no one really challenging them (YouTube), in terms of showing more leniency / backing off when necessary, to content providers, that won't leave them stuck in niches, or worse, ultimately silenced, due to lack of a listening audience to lend an ear to. For example, Vid.me could be that next big thing, but these content providers better be ready to sacrifice their high amount of viewers to start over and pray they don't become a voice in the wind.

The problem is it's pretty hard to break into an already occupied field where the cost of entry is a server farm the size of a small city (to exaggerate only slightly).

There's been an unfortunate business trend in the United States that's made competition a very difficult thing to achieve. Rather then forming monopolies, companies that become big have taken to lobbying lawmakers to make the barrier to entry for their respective field much more difficult. Google has actually been fighting this practice for a long time and is in legal battles with ISPs over Google Fiber, but it's becoming a practice that they themselves are beginning to engage in. Some of it hasn't been entirely Google's doing of course, the advertising companies' demands have been creating a need for very expensive tech that automates the process of reviewing videos that no startup company is going to be able to afford.

A lot of the "rational skeptic" community have been mirroring their videos on Vidme and Dailymotion, but considering that YouTube is running at a loss despite its near monopoly, who knows how long those sites will last.
It looks like they're trying to make it into a more family friendly (also advertiser friendly) platform in order to increase profits. Are parents complaining they can't just sit their kids down in front of a tablet with Youtube and let them go wild or are there other groups that are overly sensitive demanding that videos be taken down that they don't agree with?
If this fails and loses even more profits (or rather makes their losses bigger) what will their next move be?
I can only wonder if this move will cause enough of an exodus to make it possible for another video service to compete.

The overly sensitive are demanding it, but they're not really the focus, here. Like, Google will placate them with all the lip service in the world, but they'll still block LGBT videos from their "Youtube Kids" search; and they'll still demonetize and ban popular Social Justice youtubers if their content is proving to not be "advertiser friendly" enough.

At best, the overly sensitive are the useful idiots spearheading Google's push to make Youtube less of a loss-leader and more of a viable, profitable entity; and they too will be pushed out as soon as Google's fed up of pretending to placate them.
