He didn't get lucky on the algorithm. He's more of a case like Markiplier and Jacksepticeye where he made it big before Youtube changed as much as it did.
He got big thanks to the algorithm even if it wasn't the current version of youtube. Him and all the lets plays and reaction videos around the same time. Youtube propped up a lot of garbage
I guess, but back then, Youtube wasn't nearly as big as it was now-a-days (hell it wasn't even seriously considered a possible job opportunity, I don't think). Not to mention that there wasn't much competition when it came to LPs.
Youtube was so dumb back then that just by moving from a country to another the site multiplied his exposure exponentially, iirc correctly the recommendations and featured content depended on the region and he moved like three times . He and most of the shittubers who got big in that era were dumb kids on the right place and the right time p, anyone who got slightly big could be guaranteed that they would get pumped by youtube to become much bigger simply by overexposing them.

I think this was deliberate since he used the same music technique to the same effect he spoke about as a form of satire. But that's just my interpretation.
As for Youtubers I don't like... For me it isn't one or a few but every single German Youtuber except two. Many are just copies of famous US channels where I suspect they just took the english scrips and translated them. This is at least a good way to avoid copyright strikes but I digress. Also way to many try way to hard to sound friendly and exiting and plenty sound just preachy. Not to speak about the shit ton of anglicisms they use. They think they sound cool but to me they just sound pretentious. Also, they usually have the thickest accent, which I can't stand either.
This has gone so far I don't even click on videos that Youtube auto-translated the title off.
I liked some of her earlier stuff too but I can't sit through one of her videos now.
The iilluminaughtii's definitely on some sort of power trip, getting a lot of viewers has gone straight to her head. She kind of reminds me of Based Mama in that she really wants everyone to think she's smarter than she really is.
There was some sort of drama with a smaller channel, Cruel World Happy Mind, recently where CWHM had made a video, Blair made a video on the same topic and CWHM sent Blair a DM to talk about it. Apparently a ton of the CWHM's viewers were asking about it, saying that it looked like iilluminaughtii had copied her. Well, Blair left the DM on read, then went on a livestream a couple of weeks later and went full cunt on the smaller channel, making shit up about the exchange and flat out lying about what was said. She then threw shade at this other girl about the quality of her research, when all Blair really does, as has been pointed out above, is scroll through reddit comments and give a summary, accompanied with a bunch of leftist buzzwords and snark.
Eventually the two creators worked things out behind the scenes, but Blair's community post makes her seem like a saint when in reality she created the drama by acting like an entitled idiot.
She's been an entitled idiot ever since her YouTube career and speaking about her acting like she knows everything, she said that if the US had free healthcare that everything would be great.
It kind of sucks because I do like the idea behind her content, I just wish she wasn't an insufferable jackass.
His entire career relies on Youtube, and specifically funny man covering games videos, and he's not tried branching out at all. My bet is his current obsession with picking a random game that will be or is currently hated and defending it as hard as he does is just a trick to try and get clicks and actually generate traffic from hate. At least I'd hope so.
Exactly, I wish she never got political to begin with and trying to create drama all because of The Daily Wire creating a movie.
I don't watch a whole lot of "gun-tubers", but these ones annoy the shit out of me.

InRangeTV/Ian McCollum Maybe not so much because of his videos themselves, but his fanbase is fucking trash. Other than that, I honestly don't know what it is, just somehting seems really"off" about him to me.
Schrodinger Anyone that posts videos of themselves doing "tacticool" reloads thinking they're so badass are secretly fags. Wouldn't you know, he's also a femboy-loving weeb.

Edit: As for youtubers I hate as much if not more than the rest I saw listed, it's gotta be LegalEagle. Lawyers are insufferable to begin with, but put one in a youtuber seat and give him headlines to view with his unsurprising political leaning and it's a recipe for agony. Also don't like Doctor Mike ever since I saw him do an interview with Fauci, and not because of Fauci but because seeing this guy who was standing next to the President suddenly gabbing giddily with some youtuber raised too many red flags for me.
I also don't like long-winded documentary youtubers like Porselin, especially when they make a video thoroughly critiquing a guy but repeatedly or ultimately fellate him because he's so popular and they don't want clap-back, or at least that's how I took it. I like Toad McKinley though.

Good point, but I think it's more that you have a functional brain and can exercise critical thinking without being a pod person who lets others rewrite history in real time so as to control you and shame you publicly--unlike Iiluminaughtii
Another issue I have with the LGBT community is that people like her and Carlos Maza will say "listen to LGBT voices!" but only if they vote Democrat, if they vote Republican then they hate their fucking guts and will attack them either online or in person, I remember watching a video from The Wall Street Journal where a gay couple was sent death threats because they showed support for Donald Trump in the 2016 election and went to one of his rallies.
