I watched him in middle school, and even back then there was this weird shift with his stuff. His early parodies were pure juvenile humor, just take a popular song and make it about jerking off or that One Direction is actually gay or some shit. And when I was at that age I thought it was hilarious. But as he got bigger he started making fun about the artist and the song itself, which I thought just wasn't funny (relatively speaking, I was still in middle/high school so it's not like I had a refined sense of humor). At some point I dropped off when he started making fun of celebrities and not just making parodies like a dirty Weird Al aimed at dumb teenagers.
Damn, and here I thought he was an alright guy after recently binge watching some of his stuff, that's messed up. His videos definitely got pretty repetitive after awhile and kind of boring. His recent 10m sub special video was also massively underwhelming, he hyped it up saying he would shoot his entire collection but ends up just showing them on tables sped up for a minute and that was it. Waste of time.

Most people agree that James doesn't have his heart in AVGN anymore, which is not very surprising having been doing Youtube for over 15 years now. Part of it is doing anything other than AVGN won't bring in the views, another is being tied to Screenwave Media, and last is the fact he's married with two kids and has to devote most of his time there. In his latest video he talked about an idea for a horror movie he's been wanting to do, but can't because he knows from making the AVGN movie that making movies takes up all of your time, which he doesn't have because of his family. It sucks and I wish he could just end AVGN for good now, it's been steadily declining over the past 5-6 years or so. But he can't because it's his main source of revenue, and it pays better than any job he could get at this point now. I guess it will end once he decides to retire, but he's only 40 so that probably won't be for a while.
He looks like he's exhausted in that Vice interview and now that he's sucking the CCP's dick, I can only imagine what goes on in Shanghai.

Same here, or least I should say, I used to like them. The only one I subscribe to and listen to regularly is Radio TTS, since he covers more obscure topics like /r/unpopularopinion aside from the generic, low-effort /r/askreddit threads. A few years ago there was this mad gold rush to make low-effort Reddit TTS channels, and they all used the same format with the exact same British accent, cartoon thumbnails, pointless censorship, etc. They all just became so tiresome after a while. Some of them were especially cringey because the people who made the videos couldn't distinguish native Reddit posts from copypastas, so sometimes they'd unknowingly make robot voice video segments based on retarded shit like that copypasta about meeting a famous celebrity at a grocery store and they buy a ton of Milky Way bars. I noticed that whenever those channels used copypastas, there would be a ton of dislikes with the comments pointing out that the video's creator was too dumb to recognize an obvious meme.
Reminds me of a really obscure one I used to like when I played WT, called SpaceCat. He was part of a subgenre of tank/plane reviews with TTS, but recently he started using his real voice for no reason, which is very cringy. They can be really funny when done right.
I'll give Ralph one thing, the stuff he seems to have done for the channel is really good, and I heard his movies are decent. He is a film student as far as I know. But he just doesn't give a shit anymore about the content he makes, which leads to watching a fish eyed, bored dude for 40 minutes. And again on-topic with the thread, I dont know why people like RLM at all. Always seemed to me pretty boring.
His movies are shit the same thing he critisizes are in his movies.
