BADBADNOTGOOD. They're a 3 - piece jazz fusion group from Toronto. They're known for doing jazz fusion interpretations of hip-hop beats.

This is one of their original pieces:
and this is one of their cover pieces (Flashing Lights by Kanye West).

AUGH YEAH Anterior

I think I'd describe the genre as melodic death metal, but I've heard other people describe it as progressive metal, so I don't know.

Since Mexico as a whole isn't very fond of punk, I don't imagine many people have heard of Guadalupe Plata, but they're the best.

Ubyk, some (mostly) acoustic duo. Not sure what genre I'd describe their music as, but it's rather nice.

While I'm linking acoustic stuff anyway, have some Blue Royale

Narakam, really solid Death Metal from China. According to Last.fm statistics they have about 50 listeners worldwide, including me. I'm willing to bet the local following is a lot stronger though, since I've seen them playing some pretty big shows in China.

EDIT: If anything Rio I'd call that Metalcore. Stylistically the only thing it has in common with Death Metal is the vocals, and only because they're harsh. They're still closer to Metalcore vocals. And it certainly isn't Progressive since it doesn't really play with odd time signatures or structures, it's pretty simplistic in structure and arrangement. It would be closer to Death Metal if it featured actual riffs, but it seems to feature a lot of breakdowns instead, another hallmark of Metalcore.

Baroness is popular enough in a few small circles but they should be way more.

Mississippi Rail Co. is a band from New Orleans who should be making it big but probably won't. They're fantastic. Can't embed from Soundcloud I guess so here's a link instead.
