Just found out from a friend that DN was taken down in July and apparently YGOPro is down too.

How will I play my shitty children's card game against other basement-dwellers now?!

Also, discuss your overpriced pieces of cardboard garbage. My main is a Zombie Deck and I've got a Dragon Deck that I've barely used because I'm tryhard goth scum and everybody uses dragons nowadays anyway. I'm sooooo rusty though, I watch the show more than I play the game...

Holy shit, I watched that video and I saw the thumbnail for this one afterward. I've never seen this video before but I love it, the art style's cute and the voice actors are pretty good too.

Back in muh day, besides normal and effect monsters there was only ritual and fusion monsters. Now there is Synchros, XYZ, pendulums, meta decks and whatever Konami throws in to break the game, make the game more interesting, get us to buy more cards.

Didn't really care that much for the online YGO games but I really loved playing the Tag Force series in PSP and finished four of the games in the series.

I remember constructing a Monarch deck.

Back in muh day, besides normal and effect monsters there was only ritual and fusion monsters. Now there is Synchros, XYZ, pendulums, meta decks and whatever Konami throws in to break the game, make the game more interesting, get us to buy more cards.

Yu-Gi-Oh actually overtook Pokémon in my school as the go-to fad relatively quickly. It helped that unlike Pokémon, people actually used the cards. They banned them in my school after a while because people kept stealing each others' cards.

I was really into it, and had a shit-ton of rare cards (including the God Cards and Exodia). As a result, a lot of my cards would get stolen so I ended up marking them so that nobody could take my cards and then lie about it later (which did happen to me). Of course, that ruined the value, but I didn't care then because I was a kid; I still don't care now because none of the cards I still have are worth more than a couple dollars at most.

He should have mentioned that Kazuki Takahashi retconned the first 7 issues in a comment from the black-and-white bunkoban re-releases. Dark Yugi acted all homicidal because he was under Zork's influence which fused with him when sealing Zork with his soul in the Milennium Puzzle during the "historical" events of the Egypt Arc.

I still play, but mainly on simulators right now since I sorta live in the middle of nowhere where the closest locals are quite a bit away. Currently have Evil Eyes, Magical Musket, and Gravekeepers which is my OG since I had a really shitty deck made of them when I first started.

I have a bunch of decks, including Fabled, Shaddoll, Blue-Eyes, etc. But my main one would be Mermail deck. It was the first "tournament-tier" deck I made, and the illustrations are just fantastic.

I'm kinda anxious about September. We have a fairly-well balanced environment right now, but the 2019 Extra Pack is coming up and I hear Danger is wreaking havoc…

So i'm pretty sure OCG has Extra Pack 2019 set to be one of their big sellers of the season since on top of Dangers they boosted up its size to stick in more imports like Valkyrie the anime deck, Noble Knights, and extra OCG original cards for those themes.

Makes it even worse considering F̶u̶c̶Konami has a dangerous habit of adding powerful cards to already powerful imported themes (like SPYRAL or Burning Abyss) so that they go full-on nuclear when they hit the East.

This was a direct consequence of TCG exclusive archetypes sucking absolute balls early on. In the case of SPYRAL for example, Double Helix as a card wasn't all that impressive on it's own, but the synergy it possessed with Master Planner that made the archetype go nuclear (though Quik-Fix was waiting on a massive plussing combo to break it wide open), and Spyral without Double Helix after all the support was a moderately alright deck due to access to Link 4s and easy Tri-Gate Wizard plays.
Before that, we had Noble Knights who couldn't do shit and needed the OCG to invent Isolde and new knights + Morrigan, Ultra Athletes which are getting revamped if current teasers are indication.

Spyral in particular is some good nostalgia for me, especially when it was getting dumpstered despite each wave of support making it a stupidly strong Link archetype due to easily summonable bodies, near perfect consistency, and OTK potential. Everyone was dickriding Subterrors despite being a shitty flip archetype and every set swore up and down they'd get the "One card" not realizing the meta TCG archetypes got their "One card" in the first wave. For B.A. It was Dante and was meta out the gate. For SPYRALs it was Quik-Fix, Red Car and Master Planner, 2 from the first set, one from the second.
