This comic looks like a 40 year old business exec spent an hour on the steven universe tag on tumblr then shit out a hip and relevant with the kids comic to sell hormones.

Also why would you try so hard to deny your art style is obviously SU shit when literally everyone can see it and you don't even hide the fact you are into the show? Was SU deemed ＰＲＯＢＬＥＭＡＴＩＣ recently or something?

Alright so Steven Tumblrverse art aside I'm 4 pages in and I have no fucking clue what the story or anything in this comic is supposed to be. All the dialogue is either awkward and stilted or maybe 2 to 3 words at best. The character have no character, the art is lacking, the story doesn't exist, of course there is a Muslim woman in a hijab for progessive points, and each comic reads like a bad Cal Arts cartoon story board project.

tl;dr Shit sucks bad and the artist should be ashamed of themselves.

have you ever took a character design/world building class outside of terrible SJW steven universe art to learn to make ocs? ever read one of those "how to build an oc" masterposts or is that critique that isnt helpful? realized that MAYBE you need a plot line to your webcomic outside of boring life stuff but ~this time everyone is gay or trans~ yet?

this pains me as a artist and writer, knowing they have applied for jobs with CN for SU, consider themselves a "free-lance comic illustrator/character designer" + a portfolio when its just.. painful.. all these designs.. the whole thing.. painful..

from what i gather as to why it is:

human zoo,
the release of the art book with a charcoal gem that was a racist caricature
giving up on trying to color lapis + peridot not neon, lars and sadie's relationship,
pearl's nonstop pity party about steven/rose being with greg + that episode with the "its over isnt it" song (of the top of my head)
most of it being petty things about the story:
bismuth being bubbled
jasper being evil but lapis and peridot arent now + lapis and peridot are in a fight of some sort from last i know
amethyst being ignored/no character arc
no design change with steven.

and thats just off the top of my head other then

a lot of it being associated with these tumblry queer inclusive artists. its basically the new adventure time art style but it got more sjw tumblr attention since AT wasn't as popular before it all started

I've (indirectly) seen this guy's Love Live fuckery once or twice, I'm surprised my "favorite" post of his hasn't popped up yet. This right here. (archive of what's basically the newest version)

There wasn't any Tumblr-wide drama, from what I can tell, but it got featured on some Tumblr cringe blog and they had to edit the description after I guess a bunch of asks barraged them.

EDIT: updating for a better apology, I’m not insinuating my versions are better bc they have darker skin. My intention was “these outfits are sexualised, so I wanna make it better” but because of my poor choice of words in the caption, it’s being perceived as “I made everything better by changing every aspect of their character” and I do sincerely apologize."

It's a double dose of backlash, too. The Tumblr crowd is angry about skin color insinuations and I saw a second set of reactions saying they missed the point of Love Live, which is cutesy high school girl pop stars.

Anyways their mistake of a Kotori will forever haunt my dreams, and I'm glad I can finally share it.
