I don't follow the finances of the sport at all, but the replies seem to indicate that Paul has a point here.
Jake isn't wrong on this one. The UFC pays fighters less than 30% of its revenues as opposed to other sports organizations like the NBA which pay 50% or higher. There's a reason Askren humiliated himself for the money, it was the first big payday he ever got. That being said Jake is definitely not bringing this up because he's altruistic. Both him and Dana are faggots.I don't follow the finances of the sport at all, but the replies seem to indicate that Paul has a point here.

Found something interesting about Weili. She and her team went and trained with Muay Thai legend Saenchai, where he taught her a particular hip sway to avoid Muay Thai low leg and calf kicks. She used this several times last year against Joanna. Rose and Wittman must have picked up on this because they had her feint the low kick and then switch it to a Taekwondo high kick while Zhang does the Saenchai hip sway. They did their homework well, because that's not something you pull off in 1 minute of the 1st round based off of reads and adjustments, that's something you drill to get it as perfect as Rose did.Holly shit, I'm pretty sure Rose has cloak of invisibility or some other shit because she moves in and Zhang doesnt react at all. She performed same thing with Joanna Jędrzejczyk in her 1st fight.
Also I kinda feel bad for Zhang. Of course I fully support line "fuck commies!", but let's be honest, she has fuck all to do with commies beside living in China. Getting boo'd by crowd at start, then being send to shadow realm. Tough night for her.
Outstretched hands on the Saenchai special seems to be for balance. When Saenchai does it, he's got such good balance that he doesn't need his hands to do it. If you watch the clip above, she does the hand spread against Joanna while using his dodge. It's one thing to learn cool techniques from masters, another thing to be a master in them. BTW, if you have never seen Saenchai fight, it is something to behold. Also, Rose's feint jab to lead head kick was sneaky as hell. You could really tell that Zhang expected a leg kick there. There was no reason for her to outstretch her hands at that moment. As the striking skillsets of UFC fighters get higher and higher, I suspect that doing redundant things for flash will become much more dangerous.
Masdival was also taunting too much.Usman wasting Masvidal like that is just another testament to the fact that you have to have solid technique always and not rely on the same moves all the time during the course of a fight. In this case, Masvidal got clipped because of his looping counter check hook (against Usman's jab) that Usman ended up timing with a counter right hand, catching Jorge clean.
There were plenty of opportunities for a good boxer to capitalize on Usman's lazy jabs and playground haymakers. I can't understate how slow some of them looked, and Masvidal had enough opportunities to punish Usman by timing the lazy body jabs or countering back quickly before Usman could regain his balance after punching.
Unfortunately, I don't think i've ever seen Masvidal use good counterpunching, or in other words, demonstrate that he could intercept different attacks in different ways or return fire after defending. Masvidal is obviously good at leading (i.e. throwing first, especially at unpredictable tempos) and defense in itself, but I haven't seen him mix the two together in an effective way. He's usually content to dodge punches and then give his opponent a mug, instead of actually countering back.

He really underestimated Usman's power. If he treated Usman with the respect he treats strikers he wouldn't have gotten slept like that because he would have known to avoid getting hit as much as possible.Masdival was also taunting too much.

Back when I trained, we were taught to do it with our guard still upAside from this, I personally think that outstretching your hands is unnecessary. Having your front leg pulled back is merely a temporary position, and you can do it with your guard up provided you are bringing your hips back towards your rear leg as well.
I think Reyes would have won if he didn't go for the guillotine. The BJJ meme exposed again. Oh well, I look forward to eventually seeing Jan vs Jiri, if Jan beats Glover that is. I say Jan will flatline Jiri though, Jiri doesn't really guard at all, and Jan isn't a person to fuck around with like that.Loved the way Jiri fought tonight Reyes certainly put up a hell of a fight.
Jiri putting on performances means he get the next title shot. He's always fun to watch. Guys like Rakic who play the point game are going to get passed on. Jan vs Jiri will be exciting, someone is getting KO'ed. Probably Jiri given that Jan fights slow and patient, but it will be a fun fight.I think Reyes would have won if he didn't go for the guillotine. The BJJ meme exposed again. Will Sanchez become the next Chris Benoit after he fully succumbs to CTE? Find out next time on Dragonball ZResident UFC meme Diego Sanchez has been cut from the promotion. For those who don't know/remember Diego Sanchez, he is the winner of Season 1 of The Ultimate Fighter and went on to have quite a few barn burner fights back in the day. He's also been shown to be as thick as a brick and has signs of CTE. What really started putting eyes on him these last few years is when he left his longtime camp at Jackson Wink and found this weirdo Joshua Fabia to run his life.
Fabia is a self help guru/combatives/snake oil salesman/cult leader who runs the "School of Self Awareness", which is pretty ironic as he is one of the least self aware people you will see. He appears to have gained the trust of Sanchez completely, with him acting almost as a puppet and fully embracing Fabia's weird combatives bullshit. This has led to great moments such as.
There are a few other bits, but this compilation should do the trick.
- Running after students in the octagon with a real knife.
- Teaching Diego Sanchez a "death touch/choke" and asking for the commission to stop the fight if Diego slaps it on his opponent. When asked to describe it, its ends up being a Stone Cold Stunner from WWE.
- Giving great corner advice such as "be like Mike Tyson" and "go 100" (he later clarifies that when he says "go 100" he doesn't mean "go at 100 per cent", he meant "throw 100 punches".
- Demanding respect from Matt Serra, which led to him getting chewed up hard.
This, as you can probably imagine, led to a sharp decline in Sanchez's performance, which is best summed up by him trying to pull off the Masvidal flying knee in the third round of a match.
What has really kicked this into mainstream media attention has been the events of the past week. Sanchez was scheduled to fight the always game Cowboy Cerrone in a week from now. He then gets pulled out for undisclosed reasons. Sanchez/Fabia drops this behind the scenes interaction with him and the UFC commentary team, which is 20 minutes of Fabia being an asshole and really getting onto people's nerves.
This almost immediately led to Sanchez being released (with pay + win bonus) on the basis of not passing medicals. This then led to a call from Fabia where he formally requested all of Diego's medical records followed by a "help me I'm being held hostage" video by Sanchez explaining why he got cut, while also being fed lines by Fabia. Could this be the start of a lolsuit? Who knows.
Fully agree, Jiri was out for a second there after the upkick and a few elbows to the head could have sealed the deal. I dont see Jan screwing up opportunities like that so unless a miracle happens Jiri is in for a rough time.I think Reyes would have won if he didn't go for the guillotine. The BJJ meme exposed again. Replays from another angle show the upkick either missed him or barely touched him. From the angle we saw it looked like he got flash KO'ed, from this angle it seems pretty clear he wasn't. Reyes pulling the jump guard guillotine was a mistake. He didn't lock his legs together, just tried to use his arms to muscle a choke. Hard to pull off when both of them are slick with sweat and blood.Fully agree, Jiri was out for a second there after the upkick and a few elbows to the head could have sealed the deal.
