Don't even get me started on that annoying neegro-with-a-mouth Fiona. It took me THREE YEARS just to get used to seeing Lindsay every second/third video. Her waste of space and inability to learn the games in any capacity, causing the Let's Play to de-rail with a "oH, yoU" reaction from everyone ruined MANY-A Let's Play.
Not sure what connects these two thoughts, especially since Lindsay was never a regular so much as a fill-in member of the B Team if they needed her, and she also wasn't exceptionally terrible at most games (that I can recall her playing). In any case, while I can (somewhat) understand the dislike for Fiona, I really don't get the problem with Lindsay. I always found her pretty funny and personable, and the guys seemed more laidback with her in their videos as opposed to some of their other cameos. Hell, she was funnier than Jack most of the time.
Again, I'd like to point out that Geoffs existence screams "FOR FUCK SAKES, SOMEBODY STOP ME FROM CONSUMING ALCOHOL, IT'S KILLING ME", and all of his "friends" either ignored it or encouraged it because "haha, drunk geoff is fun"
It's honestly kind of scary to think about; RT's work culture was such a college party/fraternity vibe in many ways, and the constant heavy drinking was pretty emblematic of that. The first time I remember thinking that Geoff had an actual drinking problem was a video (that I can't find) of him in an airport talking about going to the bar to get some "breakfast vodka" - if memory serves, this conversation was had at 9 am, and the video itself is probably from somewhere between 2010-2013.
So not only was Geoff not getting help for what was presumably already a problem by the time of
this rather unfortunate "Real Life Achievements" video, but the nature of his work actually necessitated that he make that problem WORSE - and now, ten years later, we have video after video of Geoff drinking to do something basic or having to drink for something work-related until he started working on his sobriety.
This Immersion video is a pretty good example of that; I don't think it's stated when they began drinking in the video, but they were drinking until 4 am, and resumed drinking while filming the episode an hour and change later, so we can guess it had probably been several hours of just drinking.
In fairness, I'm sure their reactions are a bit played up or falsified, but I always found it interesting that the significantly less personable Gus seems to be much less upset about the circumstances than Geoff does, whereas Geoff looks visibly irritated throughout the video, curses under his breath a few times, and is the only one to actually get sick between the two of them.
His drinking problem is one of the most well-documented facets of behind-the-scenes RT life, and both fans and RT employees alike were too busy laughing at his goofy antics to see that, left to his own devices, there was a non-zero chance he'd end up drinking himself to death. It's pretty insane that he was left unchecked for so long, to the point that it caused such lasting damage.
But hey, at least the video gave us this really great shot of Geoff looking miserable after being given a slice of pie!
