I know quite a few actual hapas, and I hate to admit it's true. A majority of the ones I know are rather low achieving and unsuccessful. I've asked someone who is a hapa why this occurs and the answer makes quite a bit of sense. Almost all asian women have a certain type of parenting, which is usually helicoptering and or tiger mom style parenting. Their fathers on the other hand usually don't want much to do with parenting or work heavy hours leading their mom to take the primary role. When you have one parent who expects you to get great grades and be successful, while neglecting to teach any actual skills (such as social skills, independent thinking skills, knowing how to make even the simplest meals, knowing how to pay a bill or do taxes) it leads to a mental breakdown when they leave or want to leave home because they have no clue how to function independently. And a lot of these people usually end up never leaving home, or end up in shitty relationships to fill the void of the caregiver who does everything for them.
