Frog seems upset! He's going to efap that Elasi Affairs video:

Having already gone full 'keyboard ground & pound' in its comments earlier tonight:

Ah, the vicissitudes of Comicsgate fate. John Hervey did things the "correct way", by cranking out 88 pages of professionally drawn and inked comics every fiscal quarter with no thought given as to how to sell his comics other than occasionally going on a Comicsgate Presents livestream with 15 other guys jockeying for a plug or hopping on a CG "small stream" to do a PBS-style telethon in front of 10 to 40 already heavily jaded and taxed diehard viewers of a customer base. Without access to his finances, I have to assume Hervey is losing his shirt Mike Wheeler-style on each of these $7-8k grossing campaigns. This reliance on other people to sell his comic for him is defined as "hard work" by Elasi Affairs.

Billy Nunez, the DAMEGANG guy, also had no plan to sell his comic but he does a hail mary pass of drawing a cool picture of Cyberfrog, which makes Frog smile. He then checks out Nunez' campaign and the gigantic asses make Frog lol; he decides to give it a shout-out on his show. After this act of philanthropy Manning and Newman's laugh at Frog on the farms though, prompting him to promote it a second time out of spite. And after that Elasi Affars, instead of possibly re-evaluating how worthwhile touring around on these "small streams" really is, gripes about the unfairness of it all, stirring Frog to eFap the video and shill Damegang a third time.

At this rate, a month from now Frog will have worked out a deal with a local air mattress manufacturer to make lifesized inflatable DAMEGANG models and distribute them out of the ALLCAPS warehouse while furiously mashing his keyboard. Truly Comicsgate is a magical place where anything can happen.

06/21/2021 - COMICARTISTPRO SECRETS - ComicsGaters should DEFINITELY do this.

Most notable for the unusual lineup of Charlie's London and Art Thibert, after a 15 minute warmup of small talk with Charlie and a clip of a woman at a seminar speaking out against cancel culture, this show is largely a mediation of Frog's frustrations with wanting to uplift other independent creators yet constantly facing criticism for what he sees as a thankless chore. Frog's mind, as it often does, drifts back to Smiller and how he turned on Comicsgate and dismissed it as Frog's fan club and money machine, because deep down that's how he always saw it and his role in chasing Frog's patronage. Art and Cholly share vague sentiments of forgiveness for Smiller but these are not shared by the chat. For the most part this portion of the stream exists as shapeless, formless preamble (Charlie's and Thibert just there to react what's given to them) as Frog waits for viewers to pile in. Shane Davis and Cecil show up to exist in the stream and briefly talk about doing acid at their parents' place and potential new schemes like a "Comicsgate baby shower" despite collect six figures and producing nothing, filling out the rest of the stream wamup

Once the first hour has passed power in and all the viewers that are going to show up have arrived, Frog broaches the topic of today's stream by playing the trailer for DAMEGANG. Unexpectedly, Phil Diaz of Zaid Studios, co-creator of Magic Cop, joins to show solidarity with everyone who's into giant chicks, showing off his signed print of a Frazetta piece depicting a buxom giant woman. Phil seems genuinely enthused that we can all talk openly about this stuff now.

1624399432171.png

Frog seems disconcerted at this development on his show, asking if this is "fetish stuff" being shown. Shane nervously says he tried to warn Frog that "there was a type of thing. for this". Undeterred, Frog continues to enthuse DAMEGANG as a product he could see being professionally published, but all is not well. Exception is being taken to this singular patronage of Frog's when more worthy campaigns are left by the wayside. Frog doesn't care if CG people do digital or not. He personally doesn't do it but if it makes sense to a creator for them to go digital then by all means. Then Cecil shows up to wade around in a pool.

This hour long buildup sizzling out, this is followed up by the reading out of the Bleeding Fool Whisper Network article; the panel's insight into the BF piece consisting mainly of a bunch of tranny jokes in response to Stephanie Cooke's call for "transparency". After the nuclear explosion of quality of Phil Zaid's introduction, the quality of the show starts to drop dramatically; around 2 hours after some shilling of Davis' latest project. After this the stream sort of meanders around for another two hours with the cast of usuals watching Dan Fraga's drawstream, Erik Larsen's anti-piracy twitter threat, and a few other things. Fraga and Malin showed up for a bit for some talk about the new Ninjak, but given their support for 499, I wasn't particularly interested in hearing it.

So what was the takeaway from this 4 hour episode? I dunno, it's okay if you have a digital tier I guess.

Oh right,

While all this very important Comicsgate business was going on, apparently Warren Ellis has been uncancelled from comics, publishing with Image Comics to revisit the uncompleted Fell with the original artist Ben Templesmith., going off the latter's instagram post here.

1624408418233.png

And comics twitter is not happy about this, given the heavy PR campaign they waged to cancel him, every comic news site amplifying the scandal and going so far as to throw up websites to chronicle his pump-and-dumping of the comic book famewhore groupie community once it appeared that he was leaving comics and was no longer a source of clout and entry into the industry. Still, Ellis is arguably the biggest remaining "name" writer from the great British Invasion of comics of the 80s and 90s and so Image is choosing to ignore Ellis' decades of indiscretions with his female fans.

It's poetic that the comics strain of SJW mental illness we see today was in many ways cultivated on Ellis' various forums 20 years ago
where idiots like Kelly Sue DeConnick, Matt Fraction, and Chip Zdarsky got senpai to notice their smugness and were rewarded by Internet Stalin himself.

While I don't really care if Ellis ever writes another comic ever again (despite the fact that I enjoyed the bulk of his output and even bought both of his novels), I'd love to see him back just because it makes these idiots have all kinds of meltdowns. It's even better that they can't really pin anything on him other than hurting the feelings of sad internet women who lust over fat, alcoholic comic book writers. Unless I'm mistaken and he's been accused of some sort of physical assault, the consensus seems to be that Ellis was some kind of Svengali/Rasputin that held ladies in his sway until he decided to ghost, leading 30 year old women to claim they'd been "groomed".

Come back, Warren. I need the milk.

These people (the SJWs) were always just useful idiots. The real power was always with the media who will either decide to cover them or not cover them as the narrative requires. With Joe Biden in office, they just don't matter anymore. Warren Ellis sells books. They don't. End of story. #METOO is now a trivia question, nobody listens to the garbage tier media and it seems like Black Lives don't matter again.

Its come around their turn now and they are back to being nobodies. Sympathies. Their revolution is over. until the media decides its useful to talk about it again.

I have such mixed feelings. On the one hand, I don't give a shit about Ellis' comics and given who they sold the year or two before he was cancelled neither did most people. On the other hand, watching these faggots squeal about how he 'hurts' women and yet is still able to enter their tree house is funny.

No matter what, comics suck and I can laugh at these idiots. Win Win.

someone made a post to Ethan on this thread not too long ago about how being cancelled works and I think it’s pretty accurate. Something you did in the past gets dredged up, you make your little apologies and keep your head down for a month or two. Then, if all goes well and your politics still align with theirs, you can come back like nothing ever happened.

It happened like that with Tim Doyle.

Yep. In the end, Ellis is a successful and popular comic book writer. When it gets down to brass tacks, he did nothing illegal and his conduct boiled down to having sexy internet chats with horny adult women that wanted to be comic writers, his IRL girlfriend, or some combination of the two, but couldn't.

A publisher is going to look at the situation and write Ellis a big fat check because it's just not a big enough deal to keep a talented writer on the bench.

That’s the thing with being cancelled though. There is a good chance that It doesn’t last too long if you apologize and supplicate yourself to the hoards. I see lefties being eaten by their own all the time and nine times out of ten they are back in the limelight like nothing ever happened.

Ellis is absolutely a cuck that will bend the knee and supplicate himself if he is called out for violating leftist orthodoxy.

Here he is apologizing for having an opinion while white after a tweet on election night in 2016:

1478673316368.jpg

He may or may not do further groveling if he starts getting published again. His statement from almost exactly one year ago remains the only thing he's publicly said about the accusations and I'm sure the dangerhairs will reeee for him to say something else that they can dismiss and pick apart. I'm interested to see whether or not DeConnick, Fraction, Zdarsky et al. will be openly hostile to his return, pretend he doesn't exist, or defend him as having learned his lesson.

I dunno, I read Crooked Little Vein myself. I don't remember what exactly the dumbass thing was about but the final chapter was seared into my memory to this day. Allow me to share the genius of Warren Ellis' prose.

1624420021702.png

I went into Crooked Little Vein a diehard Ellis fan and went out of it realizing I was reading the edgy ramblings of a weird cringelord in a fedora who has lost sight of how people even have conversations outside of the internet. It forced me to reevaluate his merit as a writer and everything he had ever written. It takes something really bad to make someone do that.

As for this development, it seems like a no-lose scenario for Comicsgate. Anything less than Warren Ellis being forced from Image is a loss in perceived power for the comic book cancel crew and even if they successfully cancelled him, it just leaves the door open for Ellis to turn to crowdfunding.

You won't get much of an argument from me. It was fun at first but every situation the main character encounters is a ridiculous attempt to outdo the last implausible scenario he was in and every character but him is some sort of pervert, drug addict, or violent extremist. Nobody seemed like a real person. It was like he was aping Bret Easton Ellis and Hunter Thompson but didn't really have anything besides shock value going for it. It's hard for me to even remember the plot other than it had something to do with a "secret" version of the US Constitution.
When I was finished, I remember thinking Ellis was better suited to comics and left it at that. I picked up Gun Machine years later for half price, hoping it would be a better second effort but didn't even get halfway through.

I really enjoyed the first go around of Fell so I'll probably check this out. I don't give a fuck about Warren Ellis trading clout for sex or whatever. I'll check this out because his work is generally worth reading and people who trade sex for clout aren't victims.

As far as I can tell everybody is back to being besties again, though most of the KF discussion about that spergfest happened on the Star Wars thread, which I've kind of given up on, so maybe I missed something.

Look, I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt here. Provide some context. No one should click on TUG's click bait and give him views. Give us the story and context.

Ah Larsen. The guy who was a tag along to the Image crew.

View attachment 2282448

That's. Not. How. Twitter. Works. It's still you, an Image owner saying shit. It doesn't magically relieve you of responsibility for what you fucking say.

After digging around on Twitter, Larsen's Twitter page is half Trump and half him talking about comics from thirty to sixty years ago that he love but couldn't be made today because of under talented mouthy cunts like him; I then went and looked at the news sites to get greater context. As I suspected. Cuck Matt just literally ripped off Bounding into Comics. Boy, John Trent deserves some major kickbacks for creating Frog, TUG, and Richard's Comic content.

Below are the tweets in question. Larsen's position is obvious and fucking stupid. He of course doesn't want you to pirate. It being criminal is....laughable.

View attachment 2282450
View attachment 2282454
View attachment 2282456

I'll just finish with this. Erik Larsen has no business telling people to do without. Even if they do abstain, that won't improve comic book sales at all! Healthy industries may whine about piracy occasionally, but they don't have it to this extent. Matt Stone and Trey Parker, for example, don't sweat piracy. That's because the end product is good enough they usually get sales from it.

Maybe instead of talking about Trump and old comics that no matter how much people pirate them still sale well enough to be reprinted, Erik should spend time convincing customers to buy current comics. Note, he's not justifying that these DC and Marvel comics are good!
As an aside, it looks like this tweet got deleted, while none of the others in his piracy rant were (yet?). I wonder if Larsen got spoken to about the whole "floundering and failing" thing? (Assuming I'm not just having a Boomer moment and it is still extant, ofc.)

At any rate I think this is the Tweet Nerdrotic responded to:

The Larsen tweet he is responding to is gone, and it sure sounds like this is the one in context.

Alright, we are taking the piss out of Nasser (or any other CG writer) yet this page over here is so fucking bad it should have never been published.
Ellis comes of as another failed novelist who became a Comicbook writer - and is uplauded in an industry that has people like Dan Abnett doing C-tier work.
Ellis is a successful comic writer that became a failed novelist.
While he is talented in the area of comic book writing and has many interesting theories and ideas about the future of comics as a medium and the industry as a whole, it's fairly obvious he hates being known for writing comics. He's written at length about his disdain for the ubiquity of the superhero genre but always comes back to get that check. To be fair, he's written many comics that weren't superhero oriented but those don't pay as many bills.

I attended a panel during one of his rare American convention appearances in which he said that Ultimate Fantastic Four would be the very last thing he wrote for Marvel and probably the last mainstream superhero story he would do and he was glad to be done with it. That was in 2004. Needless to say, it was neither the last superhero story he wrote or his last work for Marvel.

One can't blame him for wanting to branch out and seek other outlets for his ideas, but they just aren't getting anywhere. The only thing he's created that had any traction outside comics was the movie adaptation of Red and that was over a decade ago. His Global Frequency pilot never got picked up. He wrote two novels five years apart, the last being published in 2013. Outside of comics, he's probably most known for writing the Castlvania anime.

He needs to stick to writing comics and embrace his role in that area or just shut the fuck up.

Ellis comes of as another failed novelist who became a Comicbook writer - and is uplauded in an industry that has people like Dan Abnett doing C-tier work.
Other way around actually. Like Alan Moore, he was a comicbook writer who became a failed novelist. Ellis doesn't "work" as a novelist because he really has nothing to say as a writer. His books inevitably just become dumping grounds where he puts all the articles and stories he has clipped from the internet together. His work constantly screams "look at me" "look at how smart I am" "look at what I know". But its ultimately empty because he lacks any sort of creativity and the basic skills of a writer. Everything he does either comes from his internet clippings or is derivative of something else. Planetary was the ultimate showcase for his strengths and weaknesses. Every issue featured someone else's characters combined with some stupid story that he clipped from the internet.

I consider Alan Moore a worse novelist than Ellis because his "Jerusalem" book is just so incredibly and somewhat uniquely awful.

Comic book writing generally teaches writers bad habits and all the wrong instincts to have as novel writers. Comic book writers have the same problem adapting their works to novels that YA novel writers had adapting to doing monthly comics. But while the YA writers can adapt by cutting down what they put into the comics work, the comic writers have a tougher time going the other direction because they have to "add" to their usual work to produce acceptable novels.
