But Black Hermione is only for the stage play, and in theatre casting tends to be race- blind unless there’s a specific, important reason to cast someone of a particular race. It's all the virtue signaling mentality of the SJW's/transtrenders these days - they have to believe that everything anybody ever says on the topic defines them as a whole, because that's what they want people to treat them as (and so don't go digging into their personal histories and find a litany of illegal actions, hypocrisy, and pretty much the skeletons in their closet). Conversely, if one of their number says something against the narrative (in this case trannies are somehow the new oppressed minority I guess?), then the whole horde must turn against the "traitor" to protect the narrative.

What's interesting about Harry Potter now becoming verboten in those circles is that HP was exploding in popularity at the same time both the current young adult generation was going through childhood AND the rise of the internet as a discussion platform for more than just nerds. This is a BIG part of the lives of many of the SocJus community who now have to turn their backs to their own childhood to protect the narrative.

I've said it before but Rowling coming out by saying Dumbledore was gay after the fact is passable cause one, his sexuality had no pull on the plot and two, back in the early 2000s we didn't have the rampant virtue signaling like we do today. Now in this day in and age black Hermione is blatant pandering.

Fun fact: back in the early 2000's Rowling's website was littered with interactive Easter eggs, one of them including a sketch of scrapped version of sorcerer's stone where Dean Thomas and Neville were included in the scene where the kids find Fluffy. Dean is explicitly drawn as black and Hermione white. The site has since been renovated into a more traditional Easter egg-less site.

One thing that was cool about the series is that you saw kids getting excited about a book for once, rather than video games, or TV shows or whatever. That's pretty neat. Unfortunately, some of those kids grew up (well, age-wise at least) and failed to understand that it's JUST a book, or realize that the author is, like the rest of us, a human being, and not a god. You saw it when the Star Wars prequels came out -- that's when I first heard the phrase, "raped my childhood".
