You say that as if the scout, rocket jumping and the pyro's air blast doesn't exist. Hell, an uber-quick fix can let you barely scrap by a crit rocket's splash damage.

Random crits never bothered me, sometimes you have like a 5 killstreak on one guy and he random crits you, killstreak over. Personally, I think that's alright, maybe he won't feel as bad now. I mean sometimes you get crazy things happening during explosions, shrapnel can do weird things. It's satisfying to turn 3 people into giblets with a rocket. Like if you have 5000 hours in game, and your rocket jumping is top tier, I think it's ok for you to be taken down by a lucky crit from and engie from time to time. I just considered it karma. Mad about a crit death? Well, probably more sparkling karma will be coming your way. Take a penny leave a penny. It goes both ways. Getting a crit can turn a good play into a great play, and getting those every so often can keep people coming back. Sometimes you're having an off night, getting a bit of luck feels nice.

I was able to complete it early, Ventus was easily the worst as it didn't fit the whole meme shit going on. I am very close friends with the person that made Oilrig and the whole bazinga shit was an inside joke as we play deathrun quite frequently. Quetzal however had the most inside jokes.
Yeah, I sat down and did the whole tour day one. Was pretty good, I think both Meltdown and Ventus definitely stuck out like sore thumbs among all the other maps. A lot of the humor is mid teens humor so it's pretty much only funny if you happen to hang around younger people, which I do, so I appreciate a lot of the jokes. I liked the memes in rust valley and oilrig the most. Quetzal looked the prettiest in terms of map design. Ventus was probably the most "challenging" in the sense that you couldn't go random meme classes and had to build a team comp around it, where as in Quetzal we won with 5 engineers (honorable mention is oilrig wave 2 and 5, they are a definite pain). Thematic had the most memes overall, and I appreciate the map creator putting SSJ4 Gogeta over UI Goku, to really make the DBS fans mad.

So there is a deathrun map called dr_bazinga and it's as bad as you think it is. It was initially made by some person who I believe was their only map they ever made and then it was "remastered" by Berke who is very well known for making dogshit meme maps. The joke is that Skial/Retro players want to play bazinga all the time and the players who want to enjoy good maps can't and are stuck in the eternal hell hole that is dr_bazinga. I don't know if you guys caught it but the mercenaries in the skybox to the right is supposed to be based off of the loss comic lol.

I’m holding out on a complete rework of Tf2 in source 2 so that it’s less janky. Mapping would be easier too.
I just hope they don't listen to the players and tf2tubers that seethe about classes or weapons being op. Not like I wanna just get spawned camped by a soldier main and his femslut kritzkrieg medic gf. Just fix the damn bot spamand maybe some of the janky mechanics in this game such as melee weapons but thats asking too much
Anyone else here been following Faceit? It seems like it’s been a total failure so far, they can’t decide if they’re competitive or casual and tried to make some weird medium in between, with all their decisions being made based on polls of the community (which are obviously biased). I like reading the feedback channel in their discord and watch people constantly complain about the balancing there and the long queue times. Personally, I’m not going to even try faceit until they either make the anticheat server side, or make me not have to download the client side one, since I’m not exactly a fan of spyware. I’m also not a fan of them removing random crits. It seems like the playerbase for faceit has died down enough that it might never recover. If Valve ends up updating the game it will probably make faceit obsolete, which will be funny to see.

I actually tried it.
Everyone was acting like a sweaty motherfucker yelling at our medic while I was just kamikaze bombing people with a caber. (Basically a standard competitive experience for me really)
I was then asked to install the anticheat for underperforming, I then learned it installs something at kernel level, I then uninstalled faceit.
I also tried one that I think most people haven't heard about. casual.tf ; the servers have like 2GB of ram and cannot handle particles properly but jesus christ this was genuinely the closest I've had to having normal matches in the last couple of years, no getting kicked for a donator spot, no ads, no cheaters, no bots, no sweaty tryhards, no badmins, just a fucking vanilla game of fucking team fortress 2. It was... dare I say... fun...?
